Metal Expansion Watch Bands?

Most of my vintage eBay finds have come on expansion bands. I certainly associate them with the vintage vibe.

Are they still popular with more modern watches or do most view them as a vintage aesthetic?

Are there recommended brands aside from Speidel, or are they still dominant for this style?

I think expansion bracelets can wear very well and offer the aforementioned vintage aesthetic. I enjoy them.

That’s the first thing I associate with them, and non watch people think often think all bracelets pull arm hairs because of experiencing these. Haven’t seen these in awhile, and I think that’s a great thing.

If you like them, I’m actually happy for you. Any time I ever had one on the wrist it was a constant hair puller.

Yes, I associate them with vintage. No I don't like them. If i get a watch that has one it's got to come off.

I must have like 50 of these things in a box from when I used to buy & repair, resell watches off ebay

Not yet 50, but my collection is growing for the same reason... 🤝

It looks good on a vintage with patina

I have quite a few, only on older watches mainly because they are all slightly worse for wear. I find them very comfortable. It is a faff but with patience you can remove or add the individual little bars and get a perfect fit.

I’ve added them to a couple of my vintage pieces just to keep them period correct. While they’re a royal pain to adjust to the right number of links, once done I find them very comfortable.

I think it'll depend on the design of the modern watch. It fits nicely on my Timex Waterbury Traditional 😎

Got this from our local e-commerce platform called Lazada, akin to AliExpress.

Timex and their Easy Reader is about the only modern maker that supplies them as original equipment to my knowledge.

I am guilty of liking them because they are so 50's-60's and out of vogue. I finally bought a new (old stock) one so that I could adjust it to really not be stretched at all when on wrist and it is fantastic. I am not hirsute enough to have these hair issues.

There is some Bandini brand, presumably from China, on Amazon that has several easy-adjust expansion bands.

I have one on today's F91W and its so great as a 'grab and go watch.' The expansion band keeps it sized perfectly.
