Watch Roll questions???

We're headed out of town this weekend for a quick overnight trip to do Christmas with my parents and my sister's family. I'm only bringing two watches, my new Bulova surfboard (because I'm sure my dad would like to see it. He's faintly interested in watches), and my 5610, since I will be helping him fix some siding/soffit while we're there.

Preparing my watch roll: how would you guys do it?

A) Wrap the watch around the pair of socks?

B) Wrap the watch around one sock and insert it into the other?

C) Just throw the watch loose in a single sock?

Also, would a knee high or tube sock be a better choice?

**** This post is purely for entertainment purposes. We all know I should just ziptie the G-Shock to the bumper. ****

A, BUT I also fold down that top hem over the watch to protect it

I’m going with A. The only issue is the return with the dirty laundry. Gets a little risky then due to soiled laundry.

Good thinking. I'll either bring an extra pair, or Schwarzkopf it home.

What are you using your socks for man?!

B) the more protection the better, can never be too carefull! But on serious note, I'll be getting away for a couple of nights soon and I'm only planning on bringing my 5610 and A1000, found a cheap travel case on Amazon, and it works great👌🏻

Usually, I would only travel with one, especially on a short trip, but I'm still honeymooning with the Surfboard.

  1. Don't let Hodinkee find out that you wear socks.

  2. I'd think the terrycloth inside should face the watch, but is this a snagging risk?

  3. Cotton, wool, acrylic?

I put them in one of several watch rolls that were sent when I purchased watches. Before I had them I just would put them in the original boxes they came in. But if I used socks I would place in one and roll the sock up around it and then place in another sock and wrap it in a towel or T-shirt.

I'm sure they are some sort of poly/cotton blend.

I probably should get some sort of inexpensive watch roll for rare occasions like this. It'll be fine this time. I plan on wearing the Bulova, and the Casio can ride in a ziplock, in a bag on top of my clothes. I'm not worried about it getting too banged up.
