Thoughts about my Current Collection

Hi WatchCrunch! I'm quite new here, I also only recently became an 'enthusiast'. It's quite an eye-opening experience after watching contents from Ben's Watch Club, Just One More Watch, Teddy Baldassare, etc. Their videos made me realize that my collection are not good.

I got my watches from my father and uncles, after some observation, their tastes are 'unique'. They collect some Fossil, Tommy Hilfiger, and other more 'questionable' brands and/or models such as skeleton-styled and oversized watches.

Their taste affects my collection directly. I'm a little ashamed with my current collection, because none of them got any recommendation from any youtuber or other enthusiast. Here's some of my collection:

>Tommy Hilfiger 1791104
>Fossil Coachman CH2565
>Megalith 8041M Mechanical

I'll attach some online pictures on the watches. It's quite an acceptable wear--except the Megalith--but the quality isn't on par with seiko or orient in the same price bracket. I'm thinking of selling them and start over, but they're 'gifts'. So, that would be rude. What do you guys think I should do?

Hold on to gifts.  Wear them when the gift giver is likely to notice.  Target the watch you want.  Save up and buy it.  I don't know about Indonesia, but here you can get a few Seikos and more Orients for less than $150.00 USD.

And never be ashamed of what you start with.  I wore a Fossil for years as a daily watch.  I have worn more hand me down Timex than I can count.

I think @Aurelian is exactly right.  Who cares what some random YouTubers have to say?  If you like 'em, you like 'em.  Some of my fondest memories are of my "fashion" watches that watch snobs would pooh-pooh.

You should definitely keep and cherish gifts from loved ones.

Ignore 'YouTubers'.  They are mainly shills pushing products/clicks/views.

Nothing wrong with any of your watches - even the Megalith (!) is fun and would suit parties, clubbing, raves... trust non-executive board meetings...

Check out some ADs and boutiques, Jomashop, Ashford, Gnomon... sellers recommended by other experienced collectors and enthusiasts (NOT 'YouTubers').  Check out what other experienced collectors and enthusiasts (NOT 'YouTubers') are wearing on forums.

Work out what other watches you like and start saving.

Already been said, and I agree with them, keep your gifted watches.

With your next purchases that you wanna save up for, instead of thinking in terms of Tommy Hilfiger and Fossil, now you know to think in terms of Citizen, Timex, and Casio.

You can be slightly embarrassed about these for now, but you might grow to love them, so hold and just give them a chance, they still tell the time better than a Rolex.

Honestly? Ignore what others say. If you love your watches, you love your watches. in fact, one of the first watches I was given was a fashion watch, still got it to this day.

if you want to go for quality, Just let it be in your next purchases, I imagine you’ve heard of all the good brands and such

I love that Megalith & Nathan Drake watch 😁 I've got some Megaliths of my own that are some of my favorite pieces.
