Happy Ied Mubarak!

For those who celebrate it, Happy Ied Mubarak! Minal 'Aidin wal-Faizin.

During Ramadhan month, we Muslims do what is called fasting (the act of not eating from sunrise till sunset) for a month. Following Ramadhan month, we Indonesians return to our hometown to celebrate our "Rebirth" and reconnect with our roots.

I can go on for hours about my culture, but suffice it to say that it is customary to bring your significant other into this family gathering. Given that you verbally introduced them sometime before, of course. Your folks wouldn't want to be surprised. Getting a rumor started or just saying their name from time to time ought to do the trick.

So, it is with a happy heart that I introduced my SO to the family just yesterday. My aunts and uncles have been bothering me with questions all week leading up to the day. I'm glad they're satisfied. My grandfather sure seems to like her, I think.

Anyhow, we were wearing our Seiko SNK and Orient Swimmer for this lovely occasion! The two well-known brands are from Japan. Just look at those similarities. Black dials, baton hands, and a date complication. At the time, the swimmer is probably the cheapest lady-sized watch Orient produces, and the SNK Seiko 5 is also in the budget range of Seiko. We're both just started working, so we're still building the foundations of our savings.
