New Watch - Seiko 5KX Orange

Got this 2 weeks ago, just ran it through the ringer to see if it’s a good enough workhorse. After some car work, yard work, wood chopping, and light chest restoration it gets a pass. Only a few small scratches!

Looking to get the gmt of same color

Hello watch twin!!! I love your watch! Glad to see it lived up to your abuse.

Just noticed you have a J1? Mine is a K1. At some point I will find myself a J. Hopefully a JDM special edition model.

If that was in stock at the store it would have been an instant buy🔥❤️🔥

Can’t go wrong with a Seiko

Love my orange 5KX - already damaged the bezel insert lol, but spare parts are very easy to come by. I was also blown away seeing the GMT version in a store, but glad I started with the basic model (it was my first automatic).

Congrats on your first automatic being so stylish! I think damage on watches adds to the character and makes it personal, but adding a GMT is a great idea 🤣😉. Once I see it in store it’s game over.

Is that the 38mm or the 42mm? It looks good!

Wow, sharp eye! I had to look a few times to find the difference. You are a true Seiko fan!

Honestly, I never understood why you want to wear a nice watch when you´re doing things like car work, yard work, etc......it´s like you intentionally want to have scratches/damage on your watch........why not just take a screwdriver and scratch everywhere you can on your watch.

I wonder, are you consistent and also wear nice trousers, dress shirt, sports jacket and nice quality shoes when you do this kind of work?

While thank you! I do consider myself a Seikophile. 😊 But by no means am I a reference around here.

Truth be told, I want a J watch because I want to say that my Japanese watch was made in Japan. I know Ks are still very good. Semantics... 🤷

It would be interesting (to me at least) to have both next to eachother. Then we could really see the differences.

I know others here would say there's no noticeable difference. But I'm still curious. Maybe case finishing is a little bit different. Maybe the bracelet is a little bit different. Font size or font shade might not be quite the same. The caseback might have different numbers and different phrases... Hard to tell from a picture. Angles and shadows might play tricks on us.

Well usually it’s so I can tell what time it is while I’m doing those things… Scratches and wear marks can tell a story and something about the owner. And yes my wardrobe of “nice clothes” has cuts marks and grease stains too, when a job needs doing that’s the least of my worries 🤣

well I still don´t get it...when I have to do this kind of work I take my watch of and put it nearby on a windowsill or a table....takes me 2 seconds to walk over to see what time it is.....but I guess I must be a weird kind of person then 😎😂
