Rolex Power Reserve?

Just got my Rolex Explorer 124270 about 2 weeks ago from the AD and I've worn it every single day since. I skipped wearing it for approx. 44hrs and I noticed the power reserve had run out when I opened up my box.

I would have thought that constant wear for 2 weeks would have fully charged up the power reserve and lasted approx. 70hrs like it's supposed to. Should I be concerned?

Yes. Take it back and ask for it to be serviced or exchanged for a new one. Also a loaner to wear while you are waiting for yours to be serviced

Why not wind it all the way up and repeat this test? Wearing, like an electric watch winder, maintains how wound it is rather than fully winds.

I'll have to try that out. I can get some pretty concrete evidence that way.

Hmm. I think the power reserve is 48. If it’s not yeah definitely would be concerned.

·

Sorry, yeah 70 hours. Yeah definitely take it back.

It's supposed to be ~70hrs. I took @PoorMansRolex advice and fully wound it up and letting it run to see how long it actually lasts.

·

That's a good plan. Please keep us informed of how everything works out.

I'm thinking about asking my AD about this issue as well. What's nice is that my AD has an in house Rolex repair rep. I'll definitely let everyone know how things go.

·

Wearing it won’t fully wind it. Takes a manual wind of 40 full turns to get it to its power reserve of 70 hours. I had a similar experience. My AD made sure to tell me to fully wind mine and keep an eye on the reserve.

Thank you for the reassurance! I was getting pretty nervous that I might have gotten a dud, especially for my first Rolex. Definitely a breath of relief. I'll still keep an eye on it and make sure to update everyone on it to close the loop with this situation.

No shade here, just curious:

My collection is seiko heavy. My seiko models and GS models with power reserves go from zero to 100% (some are 70 hours, and some are with 72+ hours) .. in about 1/2 day of wearing.

Wonder why Rolex be so much worse? Wearing everyday for weeks and not fully wound?

Knowing you, my friend, you are about 5x more active in your waking hours than some of us more sedentary sorts 😂😂😂

But my Rolexes charge about the same rate as the rest of my watches.

It’s 70hrs when it’s fully wound. Wearing on your wrist will keep it wound, but not fully wound. Over a course of a couple weeks, the reserve will go down. Although, fully wound it will be fine.

After fully winding it, the wearing keeps the reserve maintained. I should have been more clear!

I think the app or site is going crazy -lately lots of posts have several identical responses

@Max do you know what's going on?

We are fixing this in the next couple days.

I'll have to try that out. I can get some pretty concrete evidence that way.

Automatic watches usually don’t have a hard stop like manual watches. He could be winding for a long time.

·

Now you all see the usefulness of a power reserve indicator!

·

Talked to the AD today and basically reiterated all the responses on this thread. Just got a little worried for no reason lol but the AD was still pretty receptive and welcomed me to have it looked at and tested....(for a price, I'm sure)

·

nah, wearing it doesnt fully charge it. You need to manually wind it to get that full 70hr
