My two lowest cost watches are also my two best value watches. Seiko SPB239 and Tissot PRX Powermatic 80. And between these two, gun to the head, I would say the PRX wins. The movement is really nice to interact with, the bracelet is super comfortable and fits perfectly, the dial is a beauty and the finish is easily comparable to watches 2-3 times the price.
Nice review. I purchased an oyster style from Strapcode as well for a SPB239 since it is one of the very few 63MAS bracelets available and the watch only came with NATO. The fit and finish was surprisingly good and matched the watch well. I find the clasp to be a bit bulky and the strap overall a bit heavy but nothing excessive.
You take really great photos by the way.
Yeah, the 1/100th is an impressive feat to accomplish with a mechanical for sure! Not at all practical but hey, I am a sucker for human ingenuity....ha, like 1/10th is practical though, right? I just like the premise of the high beat providing a readable 1/10th of a second vs the typical 1/8th...which if you want to argue practicality...
I also saw somewhere that the blue Cartier has a moon phase model....maybe I was dreaming but that would be my grail...for now. Love that Santos! Such a timeless design...pun intended.
She looks great on your wrist. I've been meaning to drop into my local Cartier in the hopes to see it in the metal but I doubt they would have one in stock. Also I think I need to try them on to decide whether the large or medium would be suitable for my wrist. Needless to say, I am green (blue?) with envy. But then again, I suppose I have the El Primero. Interesting to know that the blue isn't as vibrant. Your pic seems to show it as a darker blue. What's the sunburst action like?
