Mistakes, flippers, or story tellers

I see a lot of FSOT posts on other platforms from folks that have "worn only once" or "just purchased a month ago from AD" or "bought it and it just didn't feel right" and selling "barely worn" watches at drastically reduced, beyond typical AD discounts, from retail. Why would anyone buy something and a week or month later sell it at a loss? Did these folks truly buy something in error aka buyer remorse? Or are these folks buying backdoor somewhere and making up stories so the AD's don't get into trouble? What's the deal?

Yeah, I've made mistakes like that.  It sucks.  You think you're going to love something, and then after a very short period of time, you want out.  That's how my first marriage ended.

No, okay, all joking aside, I have made mistakes like that with watches.  I got the original Speedmaster '57, because it looked the business.  But, then, discovered that it just wore too thickly on my wrist and traded it in for a substantial loss.  Then, got the 3861 Moonwatch.  And discovered that it just didn't speak to me.  Again, for a loss.

But, I'm still married to the gal I fell in love with at age 18, 29 years ago.  That's something, right?

Marriage and watches, two often equally debated and discussed topics though should rarely intersect...lol. 29 years is indeed something and an amazing achievement this day and age. Suggest it is worth 4 of todays relationships aka 7 year itch.

Bought a Aristo just recently after much umming and arring and was pleased when I received the watch. Looks great, great size, good spec's ect.. But when I put on the watch for the first time and gave it it's first little wind the crown came off 😢 I contacted the seller who is very well known online and was advised that I had to pay for the return despite it been a warranty claim. I then said I wanted a refund as the watch had lost it's appeal and I was very disappointed again they said at my cost.

This all left a bad taste in my mouth so the watch is up for sale at a loss, not due my choice but from a bad experience.

Nothing worse than the stark realisation that after the honeymoon period with a new watch purchase….. you really don’t like it. Happened to me many times, and I’ve got rid at a loss, sometimes embarrassingly so.

I’ve been married  34 years so I’ve been far luckier at marriage than my watch purchase exploits.
