Aftermarket Bracelet Miltat (Mini Review)

Greetings Watchcrunch, how is it going? i hope you are doing well. Let me share some experience with miltat (strapcode) aftermarket bracelet on my Orient Kamasu.

So my first mechanical watch is an orient kamasu, it is a good spec for the price back then 300$ and im very happy with it. then as a boy who like modification and improvement like in car, bicycle, bike i want to mod that watch a little bit for an improvement but not to change watch character too much.

two things that i didnt really like is bezel insert that made from aluminium and the bracelet. since its so hard to find ceramic bezel in my country (indonesia) then i decided to upgrade the bracelet first.

the standart bracelet specs are:

1 hollow end link (which i dont like)

2 oyster style bracelet with brushed finishing which was good (edge doesnt sharp and brushed texture isnt rough for my taste)

3 fold deployant clasp which rattle a lot and feel cheap

4 there are 4 micro adjusment

5 push pin link

since i want to improve the watch quality im searching for the good replacement. and then i find one brand with an expensive price around 100$ (compare to the watch price) miltat bracelet from strapcode. they have a few selection as well like super 3d jubilee, super 3d oyster, super 3d oyster (whatever 3d means in bracelet i think😂😂). then i pulled a trigger on the 3d oysterstyle bracelet (i want to compare the standard vs this miltat).

as the packaged arrived im very excited and installed the bracelet immediately. here are some different than the standard bracelet:

1 solid end link which is nice

2 it has bolder shape line on the bracelet which is nicer to see than the standard shape line

3 deployant clasp which has v shape. it feels solid, and didnt rattle a lot compare to the standard

4 6 micro adjusment which is improvement

5 screw link

6 end link fit pretty nice

7 brushed finishing which i dont like (roughness remind me of seiko standard bracelet, and to think about it standard clasp feel much better when we touch it)

7 edges feel to sharp for my taste and to be honest the standard clasp edges feel more comfortable

in the end there are some aspect of this bracelet which i like and dont like. smoother edge and brushed would be nice. and to be honest i was expecting more for the price, but im not regretting it. so did you have experience when it come to an aftermarket bracelet? how is it feel? is it worth it? whats your recommendation for the aftermarket bracelet? thx for reading my review, have a nice day and cheers 🍺🍺

Thanks for sharing this.  There are a lot of factors to consider when upgrading a bracelet.  Straps are easier and mistakes are more easily corrected.

Nice review!  I didn't think the Strapcode bracelets would have sharp edges. That's surprising at that price point.  Especially, if you're upgrading a watch that's can be in that price point.  I have upgraded all of my OEM bracelets to oyster style bracelets I don't like any high polished surfaces on any of my bracelets.  I also didn't want to pay Strapcode prices either.  So I've purchased all my aftermarket oyster bracelets from AliExpress.  If there were any sharp edges I would lightly file them down.  Here are some examples.

thank you, how did you file them down? edges strap may be subjective point, it is just from my point of view 😂

Nice review. I purchased an oyster style from Strapcode as well for a SPB239 since it is one of the very few 63MAS bracelets available and the watch only came with NATO. The fit and finish was surprisingly good and matched the watch well. I find the clasp to be a bit bulky and the strap overall a bit heavy but nothing excessive.

You take really great photos by the way.

thank you, do you feel they had a little bit rough brushed finishing and sharp edge?

No, I didn't notice any sharp edges and the finish matched the Seiko well.

@Unholy I used a nail file to start, scotch guard to brush and last a fine grade sandpaper to finish.

I can't stand FELs and I think your bracelet looks great.  And that's a mean looking shiv.  Have you done time?

I bought 4 generic bracelets. Two were from AliExpress - an Oyster-style with polished centre links for my Seiko SNXS79, and a Jubilee-style for my 1950s Alpina bumper automatic. TBH, they're not great. I had to bend the hollow end links to match the surface of the lugs more or less. Still, at least a hollow end link is modifiable with the most basic tools. Can't say the same of solid ones. The other two were a Bonklip-style and a NOS flex bracelet from the 1950s. The trouble with these two is that they were sold as 18mm, while in reality they're 17.5mm.

be careful if you buy something at ali express sir. sometimes if you unlucky might get a shady seller, and shady seller means trouble like you mention.

@jason_recliner I am not privileged to confirm or deny if I've done time LOL 🤣

@Unholy sorry for the extremely late reply.  I used a steel and padded nail file to file the down.  The steel to easily remove the sharpness and the padded cors nail file to buff smoothly.
