First post and Intro

After a few weeks reading, thought I’d do a quick introduction & SOTC & thoughts going forward.

Only a small current collection, but had a few come and go (especially this year). As you do, you grow up knowing what you do and don’t want going forward.

Anyways here we go:

Tudor BB58 OG black, the watch I bought when my daughter was born, love the smaller aesthetics compared to the 41mm. One that won’t be going anywhere, absolutely love the watch, and gets 95% of my wrist time, but annoyinlgly has ruined many other watches & purchases. Now over 4yrs in and showing lots of wear.

Seiko Arnie H558, bought by my father when I was a year old, and given to me on my 18th. Crazy to think this watch is almost 40yrs old. One I wear when running, and also a back up travel watch. Cult status & recently replayed the gesture with my dad buying him the newer variant for Christmas last year.

Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 (McQueen Blue). A watch that I coveted for a while, bought when my son was born this year. I’m on the fence with this one. Enjoy having a chronograph (mainly for cooking). Love the face dial on. But does feel to bulky & tend to wear, find uncomfortable and put the BB58 back on.

Just prior to getting the Monaco, & did briefly have the Omega Speedy 3861 Sapphire, moved on as partner felt too it looked big & busy. (Plus wanted the Monaco). Regret letting this go especially as RRP keep increasing. Still thinking of getting another one, miss the no date & hand wind element. Rumours a smaller variant due, but who knows.

Also before the Monaco & after the Speedy. A Tag Heuer Carrera 42mm Elegant WoS Ltd Ed. This was totally left field, but was blown away buy the panda dial. Only 1/250 and regret letting this go. Only negative is the modern TH branding, I prefer the vintage Heuer style. Now all sold out. Also one my partner loved.

Also sold a U Boat Classico 45mm, my first ‘luxury’ watch bought in NYC for my 30th. Guess I style of the times & fad. Good memories of this one but no lume & size meant it went once BB58 came in. Oddly the one watch that got the most appreciation from people.

Panerai 560 - last of the sandwich dial 8 days bases. Was heavy into Panerai & had my heart set on the 372. But my wrist size didn’t allow it. Enjoyed the straps & many changes. But L2L was too much.

Going forward, bought my partner a Tudor Glamour date silver dial for Christmas (only watch she’s ever shown an interest for). Every time she wears it, I realise a silver dial is on my wish list. Tudor announced the new BB36 range & the light champagne dial (pretty much silver) is on my wish list for my 40th next year.

Also have the Speedy in the back of my mind if I move the Monaco on. Left field though the green Seamaster has my attention & feel like this is more my vibe. (Divers, lume etc) so who knows.

Anyways apologies for the rambles & long first post. Also attached a few pictures.

Thanks. Would love to have more, but funds don’t allow it. So consider purchases are made which have a meaning.

Ideally a 3 watch collection. Covering most basic. The the Seiko Arnie as a beater is the plan.

Thank you. It certainly is fun. Guess I know realise I prefer bracelets, no dates, better lume & actually need a hour counter on a chronograph. Guess we all know that that means!

One little thing from a long time collector....your collection is personal....I used to let my wife's taste influence my decisions.... I really no longer do and I make fewer mistakes and when I do make a mistake it's 100 percent my mistake.... just a humble opinion

You may have a point. She dislikes the Monaco at first. Now really likes it. Visa Versa for me now.

I do to a degree. Just something is a miss with it.

Lovely collection! Welcome aboard! That Tudor 😍!

Which one? Ha. I love the 58 even though the 54 seems to the hot ticket right now (far to small, small crown & terrible couler & font on the bezel IMHO).

Both are lovely but the one with the silver dial is particularly attractive to me. 🎯

Ah the new BB36. Yep for me looks to be GADA watch and one that moves me away from either a Rolex OP or Explorer & about 1/2 the RRP 😂
