This is my current restauration project. An old Glashütte watch with a handwinding GUB 69.1 caliber. I bought it non running from eBay and after a full (amateur hobbyist) service it is now running again with a totally acceptable rate for a vintage watch. The movement GUB 69.1 was made through the 1960s so that’s about the birth time of this watch.
During my bored evenings YouTube time killing I stumbled across one of the latest videos made by Teddy Baldassarre about a fictional 12.000$ Collection. In the last part he showed the following Watch:
I paused the video and was like “woah that kinda looks familiar. At least design wise there is a really close familiarity between the two watches (apart from the date and the new one being an automatic) which I really like to see. I got a feeling as if the watch from 60 years ago that I restored had a grandchild which is sold by the same makers right now. It felt like a really cool piece of history to find accidentally. Just wanted to share this with you guys 😊

Super cool watch, hope the restoration goes well!
This is absolutely beautiful. I believe GO will do custom restorations if this turns out to be tough for you.

They actually do. I found that on their website, too. Pretty cool of them to do.
But to update the post: I did it! It’s running beautifully, ticking happily away and looks gorgeous. Very happy with it 🤩

This looks great.
Maybe add a light tan, grey, or green suede strap on this baby. Bulang & Sons has a nice strap guide comparison for gold pieces that would help see the different colors with gold. Love the watch though.

Thanks a lot. I do too :)
This is such a great looking piece. Congratulations on the restoration success. I've thought about dabbling in watch self-service, then maybe restoration, etc. But I'm not sure where to even begin.
