Invicta to Tudor

Image

I've been converted, and this Invicta 1953 is the reason. … but wait, it's not what you think! Yes, I'm one of the ones that bought this when they were $100. I think it's a pretty sharp watch, and with a pretty good Seiko movement.

I rarely wear her, and while doing so 2 years ago, I started to wonder if there was another, similar looking watch that wasn't as thick.

… then, my thoughts went to the Tudor Black Bay 58 (the Black & Gild iteration).

I wasn't a big fan of Tudor, I'd often regarded them as the Old Navy of The Gap, the Scion of Toyota, the Pei Wei of PF Chang's.

… cheaper, and far from as good.

I decided to research Tudor. Extensively.

I became quite impressed with the brand, AND their achievements.

I came to like the Blue iteration of the BB58 more than the BG.

… as well as a few others.

It's fascinating how our feelings & thoughts can change when we open our minds & learn, yes?

Bravo!!!

It's the opposite for me. After trying on multiple Tudors and not liking the look or feel of any of them, I chose Invicta instead... and Casio.

I loved BB58 for three months. Occasionally wear it, still love the vintage appeal. Would keep her.

You had me at "Old Navy of The Gap" LMFAO 😂

Do you still have the 1953?

To each their own, huh?

I do. I've thought about selling her off.

Yeah, I suppose. It's all about comfort for me, to be honest, and that plus legibility is what I place the emphasis on. Not that the Tudors lack legibility, but I found the sharpness of the cases and bracelets (especially on the Royal) to be worse than on a Seiko Samurai that I handled at the same time. I repeated the story a few times on here, but the sales assistant said, "They are all sharp like that." and I went through nearly every luxury watch in the shop and they were.

I own 2 Invictas and I think they are both great fun. So what if one of them cost me $59.95 and the other $139, they are really cool looking watches and they keep decent time.

I get calls from the agents who sold multiple modern Tudor watches to me but I am a bit worn out even the pink dial chrono will not move me but should Tudor follow a mini trend in the industry to launch a triple calendar moonphase that big brother Rolex sold a million years ago, a model old collectors waited their entire adult lives to see once again, I would be first in line.

·

Wait?!? You purchased and wore an Invicta but for years turned your nose up at Tudor? 😂

Just messing with you.

Great Tudors.

The only thing I would have to say about your post…a lot better Asian Cuisine out there than PF Chang’s (…again I get it, it was only an analogy)
