Watch-K.I.A.

The nightmare- having a watch die on you while you are out in the field (outside/not at home where you can easily switch out). I mean dead, like have to bring it to a pro type dead. Has this ever happened to anyone? Tell me a tale of dread and woe.

Mind you, I have never been a victim of this except a quartz battery giving up the ghost during the night or while I am not wearing it. So, this is really just a place to share any experiences and what you did in the situation.

Yup, TAG Indy 500 quartz. It was the first $1000 watch I owned. I never went swimming or bathing with it. Yet, one day it stopped. When I turned the crown, the whole stem came out covered in wet rust. I've had Bulova, Tissots, Citizens, Victorinox and Seiko that have been through harsher conditions, are older , that still run.

Inadvertently banged a vintage Girard Perragux against a door frame. Crystal popped off. Somehow, I managed to catch the hands on my clothing, lost the second hand and bent the hell out of the minute hand. It's sitting on my desk waiting for repair.

Brutal! Sounds like the watch equivalent to this:

Bad marks for TAG there *Jeremy Clarkson voice*.

Really sounds like a nightmare. I am sorry for your loss.🙏

This is why I can't have nice things, lol. I'm all the time bumping into something.

I killed my Suunto Core in the ocean. I fixed one of the pushers that got stuck and must not have resealed it properly. It drowned after a few swims on vacation. Unfortunately it was unrecoverable.

Yikes! I had never heard of this brand before. I think I would only trust G-Shocks for ocean ready digital.
