The Lorier Astra is a true strap monster

I've never posted here before, but I have been so excited with my new watch that Ive been needing to share my experience.

After a long period of indecision, I finally decided to pull the trigger and purchased my first Lorier!

What attracted me to this watch were the classic, understated vibes, but I also had the feeling that this could be a real go anywhere, do anything watch due to its versatility. The classic white dial, 36mm case, 20mm lug width, and 100m water resistance all mean that it can really adapt and tick so many boxes depending on the strap choice.

I made this visual guide for myself to remember what the watch looks like with different straps (which I am now sharing).

Depending on the straps choices, I really feel that this watch can be used in the most formal situations, (leather straps or on the bracelet), but can then be converted into a casual/field watch using rougher leather or even nylon/sailcloth straps.

Office/formal use: brown leather strap (originally from a Tissot) or the original 5-link bracelet.

Casual use: 2x affordable sailcloth straps, (purchased from the Thrifty Gentleman).

Looks great!

Definitely better with strap. The case and dial become a little lost with the bracelet imo.

Could easily be a one watch collection.

Thanks mate!

Love this and thank you for posting. I am waiting for my order for the #lorier Astra Cosmic Blue. Where did you get your straps, or were these ones you already had? #lorierastra

Thanks for the comment mate, and hope you receive yours soon also and start enjoying it!

So I haven't tried many strap companies so I can only talk about my experience with these... the brown leather strap I had bought from Tissot (approx. £40), it originally went with my quartz Tissot Tradition. It looks great and quite elegant, but the leather is a little stiff so I'm not sure how it compares to other brands.

The sailcloth straps I got from a website I found called the Thrifty Gentleman.. they are not perfect with some minor issues around the sizing holes, but around £11 pounds they look great and better quality than others I had tried from Amazon so I would generally reccomend them for the price.

True! I just put mine on a black leather strap yesterday. Going to try the very casual grey Nato strap I have lying around and see if that works.

I keep seeing this watch. Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something.

Looks great, and I would love to see what it looks like on a nato strap... I did try it on a tropic rubber strap earlier, but that was a step too far I think!

Absolutely love the astra. Was so close to pulling the trigger on one earlier but have held myself in check for now. Looks awesome on all the different straps. Green sailcloth is a cool vibe for sure

·

Wow, it really does look great on all the straps.

I love this watch but it's too small for my wrist. I wish they made a 40 mm version

Fair enough mate, for me I think 36mm is at the very limit of what I can consider, but I've now gotten used to it a gotta say I'm enjoying it quite a lot... before pulling the trigger on the Astra I was actually considering the Citizen NB1060 (JDM I think), which I think could be equally versatile in formal & everyday use. Slightly different design vibe where it mimics a Grand Seiko a bit, but it brings a 38mm case with the same versatility and beautiful finishing for around £600 on the discovery-japan portal... they even have the more affordable nb1050, which I think might be a modern day SARB alternative now that prices for that and other Seikos have spiraled up...

I posted something similar for the blue version.

Really nice pictures mate! Now you've got me wondering how the blue leather strap would look on mine 😅

I finally got to clean the grey Nato strap. Here are some pics. I am not sure if it is too casual and/or the strap is too wide in relation to the case diameter.

that's awesome thank for sharing mate 😉 ! I think the colour and texture looks great! Not too casual in my opinion, but I agree that it may be a bit wide for the 36mm diameter. I had seen the same with a rubber strap I had tried (too ugly to post), in that straps without a taper looked just a bit wide and plain.
