Ademars Piguet Intellectual Property Suit...

Looks like AP has filed a copyright claim regarding a Kickstarter project. Not great for those of us who have put in a bit of money, as it's past the funding date...

Sorry that you're caught up in it.

It's not the first affordable wandering hour watch, nor the first that really cadged from AP's designs. I wonder what triggered the attorneys on this one...

AP patented this in 1991. That's 33 years. Most parents only last 20. 馃し

The kickstarter got removed from public viewing, but we're still getting messages from the group.

Meh, reading the claim from your screenshot I wonder if it holds up. Seems more a "big boy scaring a little boy" situation. Guess they employ the tactic trying to scare them and if it works its an easy win. Bit of a sleazy tactic by AP.

I wonder if there is a patent because that 120 degree scale with three rotating discs is how you make a wandering hour dial, because maths! (And geometry). A central second hand is also ubiquitous. Numerous brands do the same without issue. (Olto-8, uhrwerk, atowak, ublast, technotempo and many many more.)

To me it's comparable to saying you have the patent to a 12 hour watchdial indicated by markers with three central hands for the hours, minutes and seconds... I hope it gets resolved quickly and you can enjoy your watch soon!

Yeah, we'll see if Kickstarter feels that way, I suppose.

Wow, that's closer than I thought. I can see why AP reacted.
