Why Did I Wait So Long?
I've been a fan of the GSAR since I discovered it existed years ago. I always held off buying one because they are not inexpensive, and I wasn't sure that a really "tooly" diver would appeal to me long term.
Last year I picked up a Navigator during Marathon's Black Friday sale, and fell in love with the watch immediately.
A couple of weeks ago I got an email from Marathon advertising 20% off the GSAR, including the Grey Maple version. I decided it was time to take the plunge and see how I would get along with the watch... It's love at first sight.

I love it, I also have a Marathon Navigator with tritium. I bought the Navigator to see if tritium was for me, and after having for the better part of a year decided it was time for the GSAR.
The biggest thing with tritium is that it isn't "showy", you are never going to get amazing lume shots with it. What you do get is bright consistent light, without the need to "charge" the lume beforehand.

Have you worn one of those 2 watches while driving at night? I do a lot of night driving during the winter and have wondered if the tritium lume is visible enough against the gauge lights of a vehicle to easily tell the time by.
I haven't done much night driving to take note, but I suspect it is. The tritium is bright, just not fresh from sunlight X1 C3 Superluminova bright.
