Update Seiko Willard 6105 Restoration

Update on the Willard restoration unfortunately the 6105 main plate arbor wear was to excessive even for jewelling which I tried but the mainspring barrel was still on an excessive tilt which caused the movement to run erratically. The chance if getting a good 6105 main plate is pretty slim so I’ve decided to go with option 2 which is to fit a 6309 movement.

Luckily I’ve got all the parts needed for a movement swap the only thing that will be missing is the hacking feature of the 6105.

Parts needed for the swap.

6309 complete movement will service this fit lower arbor jewel and just waiting on a new mainspring.

A 6309 dress watch stem which needs to be 16.30mm in length.

A 6309 dial spacer ring.

Use the 6105 date wheel.

The 6105 crown has been rebuilt with a new gasket and the case has passed a 3 bar wet test.

All going well should be finished in a couple of weeks.

The lovely vintage Eterna Matic is finished and just bench testing before going back to the owner.

Next up will be the UFO restoration.

A similar yet imperfect movement is definitely better than none at all! Wishing you steady hands and good luck on the assembly!

Hats off to you for sticking in the fight. You gotta love it when logistics and economics are against you and still win.
