Very my friend very, new san martin was good I've got there 62mas,didn't know rolex missed the mark that much though 👍

Eye-opening video. 👍

Sometimes I wonder if anyone in this hobby is qualified to say what is of higher quality or finishing, or if everyone is just trying to justify their luxury expenses with self-convincing... 🙄

User reviews are subjective quality. Macro lens shots reveal objective quality.

·

I wonder how a non used Rolex would compare. Also how old is the San Martin? You need to compare watches of equal age and wear to draw comparisons. The results may still be the same but equal foot in use and age is key to a good comparison.

Think before you fall down the rabbit hole and start putting some time in,ie research watching videos reviews and getting hands on,testing quality and feeling out what you like, you just go for the brand you know or like, big deal when someone is spending big money with no clue of better cheaper alternatives.

I get your sentiments,it was more the relevance of the parts that age doesn't count that shocked me,and I don't think the fact the San Martins finishing was better due to the rolexs age,you could just see it was of a higher standard 👍

Some of the things pointed out looked liked poor service results, they may not have been but without KNOWING for sure if the watch was serviced or refinished it is not a valid comparison. All it proves for sure is that San Martin is putting in an effort to have a good looking watch of good quality when it comes to finishing.

·

I saw this too. Can't argue with this 🤷‍♂️

·

One thing this says to me for sure is I am more likely to give a San Martin a go.

·

I watched this today as well. I have a Rolex Datejust which I love and I would really like a yacht master titanium however as they are crazy money I thought I would buy the below as a dummy run to make sure I like this style of watch. I am stunned at the quality, this is on my wrist a lot and has become my GADA watch.

These are just using my phone but you can see what he means. Even this close the quality is very good. That transition on the polished edge is great and this is grade 5 titanium

I think it's worth noting that the Youtuber featured here has a business relationship with San Martin.

I'm not saying his claims don't have some validity, but (I do believe) there is a business incentive on his end, and this should not be considered objective reporting.

For the money San Martin is very good. But not perfect. I returned my San Martin “62 MAS” diver. The watch would stop running due to the minute hand getting stuck on the hour hand as it passed over it. It only happened at one point on the dial, and even then intermittently. Lovely watch otherwise, but a watch that I can’t trust to tell time is a no go for me.

Haven’t dipped my toe back in the San Martin pool since, although they do have some very tempting models.

Sorry to hear that my friend, didn't give the insides time to see if they were any good on mine, only needed the 62mas case from the watch 👍this isn't my opinion by the way,I just don't agree on there prices new or secondary, and regardless of anything people by rolex because there rolex not because there the best made watches and there worth £10.000 each 🙄😂Grand Seiko is the best to me and for me.

Have a Rolex (Explorer 124270), and three Grand Seiko's (Snowflake, SBGW231 and SBGN003 - a movement trifecta as it were) in my collection. My next watch well be a fourth Grand Seiko (currently eyeing the SBGX261 - the 9F is a marvel!).

I'm not dunking on San Martin - I got a bad one and returned it, it happens. I've no doubt people have done the same with Rolex, GS, Patek, name the brand - someone somewhere returned one for whatever reason. Returned the first Christopher Ward I purchased because of a handset QC issue (the GMT hand was a half hour out of synch with the main hour hand). But, wanted and bought a second CW [partially due to my Anglophilia after having lived in England years ago and love the new twin flag logo] and it's great. I'm open to adding a San Martin...and CW...to the collection again if it's the right watch.

Is Rolex the best made watches at or worth their price point? Maybe...maybe not, depends on the watch! I look at watches holistically. The price I'm willing to pay for a watch is based on several factors: style/design, functions, materials, movement, fit and finish, etc, etc, not to mention the intangibles I value. For me, the watch itself determines the answer, not the brand itself (in other words, I try not to throw the baby out with the bathwater!). There are some Rolexes I'll pay RRP for, some I won't...same with San Martin, GS, CW, Omega, Tissot, Timefactors...

Me too my friend I operate in similar way, only using rolex because its the comparison in the video, love lots of rolex models,I like Pre owned bargains, least when there getting above £1000 range,so most brands have priced themselves out with me,and not because I couldn't save up and grab one, just don't think in my opinion any watch should be over £5000 but that's just me,if I had lots of money I'd be poor with lots of watches, and In reality I'm poor with lots a watches 🙄😂
