The Hamilton Frogman is awesome! But... $1,200?!!

The Hamilton brand is undeniably a staple when it comes to prestigious watch manufacturers. Known for their historic field watches, the brand doesn't really dip many toes in the dive watch space often(as far as I can see). But, boy do I like this Frogman diver.

I just watched a video featuring this dive option from Hamilton and I was very impressed with what is offered here.

Stainless steel construction, including a steel bezel insert which is PVD coated with polished raised markers. The case finishing looks fantastic with polished beveled edges on most of the case(including crown guard) and satin brushing on the rest of it. The feature that stands out here is the crown guard. The crowd guard actually connects to the crown via a screw that can be screwed in with a flathead screwdriver and is designed to move in to the case when screwed in, ultimately providing 300m of water resistance(Cool AF!).

The case size is 41mm(excluding crown guard) with a tight lug to lug distance of 44mm helping it wear much smaller. The movement is Hamilton's in-house H10 caliber that offers an awesome power reserve of 80hrs.

Like I said, I really like what I'm seeing here. The compact lug to lug it very attractive to me and the crown guard is super cool tech. But when I see the price tag I can't help but gasp. Retailing at $1,200, I question if I can justify the purchase. The design is amazing. The movement is premium. But, it comes on a rubber strap and is priced alongside many other awesome dive watches.

Though I really like this watch, I can't see myself paying $1,200 for this piece.

WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK?

DO YOU LIKE THIS HAMILTON FROGMAN?

DO YOU LIKE IT ENOUGH TO SPEND $1,200?

How many 1200$ divers have 300m resistance and live up to the promise while having a 80 hour reserve, rubber strap impacts the price perception

·

I've the older model, not sure how much it differs but love it

Frogman is a solid diver. Well worth the price. I love my Khaki Field I have. It houses the H30 80 hour power reserve. It's a great movement. You can't hate 300 meters resistance for the price either and I love the case design. It's on my hit list for sure. However my next Diver is going to be the Farer Aquamatic Cribbar for $995 but the Frogman will be in my collection.

This is going to be the year of the divers for me. Three out of the four watches I plan to purchase this year are divers.

It looks like a Hammy working out hard to become a Panerai. 💪💪

The design is awesome. The crown guard is super unique too.

It is a bit special/peculiar design, mimicking heavily Panerai.

Without SS bracelet the price is quite steep, my choice in this segment is this one, also 300m WR and 72h PR. Running still at COSC level after 6 years and has unique design

Finally....a Hamilton I might like.

Was looking at a selection of Hamilton’s at local dealer a few days ago and was surprised at the prices, they were in euros as i live in France, a simple looking field watch was over 1,000.

Jomashop…….. $875 or $795 on the green strap

·

$1.2k is too much for me ☹️ it’s moving into a space that longines use to occupy and using movements that are in their more affordable offerings.

This makes more sense.
