Trying out the Pagani Design 'Speedy 57' 😂
So I saw this PD 'Speedmaster 57' homage pop up on Ali Express recently for a mere $80. I ended up ordering one out of morbid curiosity 😂
It's powered by a modified Seiko quartz chrono movement (subseconds dial is deleted to replicate the bicompax look of the 57)
Comparing it back to back with my Speedmaster 57, hilariously the PD wears slighty better on my wrist than the Omega being slightly smaller (40mm vs 40.5mm) shorter lugs and thinner (12mm vs 13mm) and actually has greater WR (100M vs 50M) lol
So overall it's a perfectly usable GADA watch that you don't have to wind, quality is fine for the price and costs less than 1% ($80 vs $9000) of the watch it's meant to homage 😂

I got one and put it on a nato strap, it’s ok like you say for £60 ish, i much prefer the quality of the steeldive I bought 👍🏼

Nah, for an $80 curiosity, caution about WR accuracy isn't really a high priority. I would test it just out of curiosity...

Yes I've owned the 57 since last year, I got the PD to see how close/off it was from the real thing

You get used to that feeling. It’s like people who prefer Tudors to Rolexes in appearance. I like my PD’s, and at the time, it wasn’t like you could even get an NTTD seamaster in steel/ceramic rather than Titanium/Aluminium. Still can’t - but the newer Bond 60 SMP is steel.
Homages really aren’t all just one for one — some are basically Dan Henry.

The 1729 PO homage they do has day/date, and I believe they lume the numerals, which further differentiates it from the Omega it references.
I quite like them, even if I would still one day fancy actual Omega models in a few cases.

Omega's 50m wr is probably way more than Pagani's 100m. Keep in mind that they are not using a common standard and Omega's wr is known to actually mean what it says, which is def not true for PD.

The date would be at 4:30, and people don’t always like that. Fundamentally though, it’s because (aside from the subalikes) for the most part their homages aren’t always about being one-to-one apart from the logo. In my experience, they tend towards changes and blending things from different models or from older out-of-production models. In some cases, some people like those changes — for instance, in this case, I prefer the looks on the Pagani. Including the triangle. It’s interesting they have gone with the anglicised ‘tachymeter’ over ‘tachymetre’ though.
But it’s always like this — some people complain homages (Pagani in particular) are just rip-offs, copying bigger brands, and then when they do something different, other people complain they got something wrong.
I quite like them because they put good quality watches in the price bracket of people like me. This is a chrono with a Tachy that works unlike most others in the price bracket.
