Patek Aquanaut Luce Annual Calendar Moonphase 5261R

What does everyone think of this new release from Patek?

Personal view is its a banging complication (a moonphase) on a banging watch (an aquanaut.) - So what is not to like?

It is listed as a ladies "Luce" watch - but I can't think why - 39mm, teal and gold. Seems completely unisex to me.

I’m just not sure the moon phase suits this watch. It’s always come across as a sporty rugged type to me. The colours look stunning and it is still a grail for me.

One of the most interesting new Patek’s. To take the sleek, fairly simple aquanaut dial and fill it up with a sporty take on a romantic complication is such an interesting mashup. And it works well to my eye!

The Nautilus has a couple of releases with a moon phase, I always liked the aquanaut design over the Nautilus, more modern design. My fav is the 5167A and is way above what I can afford.

Picked up a 5165A recently (similar to 5167A but 38mm rather than 40mm.) - I couldn’t really afford it either - but it’s an absolute beauty!

I think the colors are very nice, but have always felt that the complicated Aquanauts and Nautilus stray from the collections core values of a thin/capable/understated watch. With the exception of perhaps the 5712, these always throw-off the proportions of the design (too big/thick). I was lucky enough to get a 5167A and it's perfect. But that's just my opinion, and regardless it's not like I could get any of the others now a days😂

I was trying to work out my thoughts with a side by side. I can’t. One a bit more elegant. One a bit more crazy. Both those things good!

omg that fits perfectly on your wrist, and looks stunning! Congratulations! Smart man once told me.. "Don't project your wallet.." but yeah may be some day.

So beautiful

I prefer yours over this release. It's just too packed with stuff, the numerals on the regular model fill the dial nicely already.

I prefer the more "basic" Aquanaut over this. Something about it just doesn't sit right with me. I love the Aquanaut (the one you have with the black dial is my favourite colourway) because it sort of looks like tyre tread. The dial design and rubber strap somehow look chewy and appetising to me, as if I could just put it in my mouth and gnaw away at it. This gold one doesn't do it for me. I also dislike the use of gold outside of of dress pieces.

It just stirs up a mix of emotions in me, like I want to love it, hate it and be impartial to it at the same time. I'll just have to settle with "It's not for me and a bit blah," for now.

I saw this piece a few weeks back. It’s certainly a nice piece but I think the smaller size makes the dial a bit cramped? Also takes some time to get used to the position of the moon face #patekphilippe #patek
