Saying Goodbye to the Mojito ๐Ÿƒ

It hasn't even been 2 months since I bought this stunning piece. I was convinced that I would keep this watch for a long time, up until a few days ago. I have purchased another watch and unfortunately, this one has to go. I will definitely miss the shimmering green and gold, the sharp lines, and the elegance with that aftermarket brown strap. I'm happy to receive a new watch, but sad to see this one go. Bittersweet. ๐Ÿธ

Planning to get one myself, how was the quality of the watch overall? The lack of sapphire crystal is a bit off putting

ยท

I had the blue version (can't remember what it was called). I loved the dial colour and pattern, but not a lot else. The strap wasn't very good, the movement is just an NH35, it didn't have a sapphire crystal, and I felt it wore larger than it's size indicated. I heard so many good things about the watch before I bought it, but ended up being a little disappointed.ย

Wait where is it going?

What new watch did you get?

To someone else who wanted to purchase the watch. He was a nice bloke, he was looking for a watch to wear at his wedding and this one caught his eye when I put it up for sale.ย

Now that would be telling. I'm gonna leave that until I get the watch, at which point I'll post it on the NWA discussion board.ย

I actually liked the watch. I quickly swapped the strap, but yeah I see your point about the crystal and the movement. In the end I'd only buy a cocktail time because of the dial, but fascination with a watch's dial can wear off. So I definitely bought it, knowing what I was gonna get and I was pleased, although I do understand why some may be disappointed, especially since it's so hyped up.ย

Overall, it's a very solid watch for the price I bought it at. Quality wise, you won't get any surprises, and as for the dial, you like it or you don't. It can be irritating with these watches because you want to know how it looks like in person, but that's difficult when buying online. After all, you'd primarily buy this watch for the dial. I know it's that much more expensive, but I kind of want you to buy that new Citizen you were considering. But of course, who knows if you'll like it, it's about having it on your own wrist at the end of the day, and your opinion doesn't always have to be the same as everyone else's.

Gorgeous dial! Massive respect to your discipline for keeping 'one-in, one-out'!ย

I have the Negroni. I love it, but I find it actually wears โ€œthickerโ€ than the number led me to expect, if thatโ€™s a thing.

I've decided to get the Citizen after all. The lack of sapphire crystal on the Seiko is just a dealbreaker at this price. This is quite a significant sum for me to dish out on a watch and I don't want to worry about paying even more to replace the hardlex when it eventually gets scratched. Plus the strap is just garbage and I'll have to switch that out too. In the end it'll cost just as much as the Citizen with a lot more effort put into it.

I wish we had a sale section on WC to offer watches to the WC community before going to ebay and such.

Generally, I don't mind mineral crystals on watches at this price, but I understand that some people do. I'm had 6 watches with mineral crystals and none of them have been scratched, so I'm pretty confident in buying watches with mineral. But again, the dial in my opinion looks better, the sapphire crystal is there, the movement hits 8 bps, and the strap should be better. Although I have to ask, how much were you going to buy the Seiko for, and how much are you going to buy the Citizen for?

Seiko - 480 USD and Citizen - 730 USD.ย

I live in Australia, so I don't know if the pricing will be different. I can't seem to really find any of the Citizens under 800 USD, if you could send a link that would be nice. For the Seiko, I only bought it for a total of 300 USD total including a new strap, and this was only a couple of months ago. The same store sells it for 480 USD now like you said, so I realised I got a really good deal, and I also got nice profit after selling it.ย

Good deal on the Seiko. Afaik it usually sells around that price on discounts and such but I live in India where local retailers have overpriced watches and shipping anything is quite costly.

Yeah, but the demand for that Seiko is so high that even as an Australian I don't think I'll get that watch back at a fair price. It bought it from a normal retailer, and it immediately ran out of stock, and then it came back 160 USD more expensive. Based on the Seiko's inflated price, it's best to go with the Citizen due to the better specs.ย
