When I was a young boy in the mid-to-late 1960s, my Dad wore a wind-up Timex Marlin that looked nearly identical to the watch on the left in this photo. With Timex doing a few re-imagined vintage-style updates, I bought 2 versions. The green one (bought new; 30% off sale π) on the right, is an automatic update re-imagining. The white & gold one has many similar features as the watch he wore(black band, oyster-polished watch face & number style) I ended up getting it used as I missed out on getting a new version. My Dad is 82 now and is once again impressed with my recall from such a young age. Itβs possible I recall the watch more than he does. π
Itβs the Marlin reissue that got me into this whole thing. Itβs perfect. Cool that you have that memory.

Honestly, me too. Iβve always worn a watch of some kind or quality over the years, but it was the vintage Timex that re-ignited my interest in watches in general. Thanks for responding.Β
Great looking Marlins! I am another fan of Timex and have memories of their watches from my youth. My first watch was a quartz camping boys Timex I got for Christmas in 1971. I have one of the black dial reissue Marlin hand wind watches and a vintage 1966 Marlin in my own collection.

May I ask the mm case size of that black Marlin? And its model number? Very cool looking!Β
Both are 34mm. The black dial is #TW2R47900.
These also remind me of my fatherβs Timex from the 60s and 70s. Β In fact, I inherited his Timex from the 60s.
I'm of a similar age. My dad, who died in 1999 wore something similar but I don't think it was a timex? I love that style of watch, particularly the green face reissue.Β
I have a couple of Henry London quartz dress watches which very much follow those design queues.

Oh!!! Β Hello.
The Marlin is so cool! Great story and way to bond with your dad.
I picked up one of The Marlins as well. However, I had to change the strap as the OEM straps from Timex are pretty basic. I put it on a nice black alligator strap I picked up from a store on Etsy.

Dang I might have to get a Timex now
Oh!!! Β Hello.
Snap!
I was gifted my 2 Henry's before I started properly collecting but I do wear them and like the retro styling. Probably prefer them to be 38mm though now I know a bit more about watches!

The case size is 34mm; itβs a bit small.
Iβll have to look up the model number. I got it on eBay.

The green one is bigger. I believe itβs 41mm while the black/gold one is 34mm
