Seiko Turtle - huge potential!

So, finally got my turtle dark manta. I absolutely love the case and the heft, not to mention the dial which is beautiful! Does not wear larger than my Hamilton Pan Europ and I love that one too. However, it feels chunkier than it needs to be and I am not into dive watches to be honest. The things I don't quite like as much? The bezel and the cyclops. And since I was gifted with Seiko's characteristic misaligned bezel, I think I want to mod this one. What I want to do:

  • Replace the bezel with a coin edge one which looks slimmer

  • Replace the insert with a dual time one. I said I am not into divers, so I am thinking the dual time will be more useful to me. I found one that is "stealth" and that is really what I want.

  • And then, I will remove the magnifier on the Cristal

Picture of my watch and how i want it to look. First watch I want to mod and I think it will look much, much better.

I’m all for the mods, but sometimes the cyclops on the crystal does come in handy, I personally kept mine on my Seiko air diver because my eyesight is not too good. Just something to consider, cheers 🍻

Definitely do it, your version looks so much better. I really like the Seiko tortoise but that obviously doesn't get the dial you wanted.

Good luck mate. To me my turtle is just perfect as it is 🤩

Wow, that bezel is really misaligned...it's completely upside down 😜 lol

I have the Samurai Dark Manta and wouldn't change a thing on it, but you mod plan looks pretty cool 😎. Best of luck!

Was your bezel aligned? Just curious.

Ahah, indeed upside down. You know what I mean though. If in normal position, the triangle is close to 1 minute mark off when it clicks.

100% know what you mean, I was just having fun. Unfortunately Seiko is infamous for misalignments, yet we all seem to love them anyway.

No of course not, jejeje. But I don’t really mind 🤷🏻‍♂️

It wouldn't be a Seiko, right? They should put a little more effort into getting it right. It's an awesome watch though. And the dial is gorgeous!

Yep I agree they should. I love my turtle the dial is beautifull. And I don’t mind a small misalignment because It’s not an expensive watch, however I’m scared to buy a more expensive SEIKO (Let’s say 1-2K) and get the same problem. I would be mad then.🤬

So, I think SEIKO doesn’t realize a better quality on these affordable watches would make people go for their more expensive products.

That's a great point. That makes me think of the "Turtlish" Willard, also a great looking watch but the price is a bit too crazy, specially if it would come with the same bezel quirkiness...
