Has anybody scratched a sapphire?
Disclaimer alcohol was involved, but I woke up the next day to find the sapphire crystal on my Laco was scratched. Luckily I was going to Windup in Chicago the next day and they said they will fix it. Has this ever happened to anyone else? On another note I lost a watch the following night, but that story is for another time.

Never had a sapphire crystal scratch, but it is possible. Definitely had scratches on other types of crystals. Glad that Laco agree to fix it!
If you have double sided AR, there's a chance the scratch may a scratch in the coating and not the crystal. But a crystal scratch might not be impossible, who knows 🤷🏼♂️

It’s a pretty deep scratch,, but you might be right it’s a scratch in the AR
Sapphire is very scratch resistant, but it isn’t scratch proof. Anything harder than Sapphire (like a Diamond) can scratch a sapphire crystal easily. That being the case, the picture looks more like coating damage to me.

Doubtful. Had that happened, you most likely be in the hospital right now. He’s surprisingly scrappy.

Not scratched, but my first Rolex sapphire crystal imploded through the dial, into the movement. Dropping it face down will do that.
Scratched one watch + alcohol. Lost another. Sounds like you partied HARD.
I scratched the Saphire glass of my submariner many years ago. Alongside with many other scars, I just wore it till it was time to service the watch.
