Buying Something Influenced by Micro Tournament?
Very early stages of the Microbrands Tourney and wanting to be informed on my vote I do a fair amount of research on the brands and what they offer. There are definitely some I haven't ran across before and I really like. Which has me wondering what everyone else is thinking as far as the tournaments influence on watch buying decisions?

I can't really vote, as I'm split - i think it's a good bit of fun, certain micros are for me (lookin' at you Lorier), but I still won't be buying anything as a result.
It is fun watching the progress though!

Yes that's very nice, I think they're sector dials are very cool as well.
It's great to see new designs from previously unknown brands so I absolutely like what it does for creating awareness. The "hey, that's cool I'll check it out " effect to add new watches to our future to buy lists.
The tournament however, although fun, is just a popularity contest. Less popular microbrands who may very well be exceeding others on quality, price, design and specs will never go far in the tournament. It is also extremely US brand biased, any brand from the US will be automatically more likely to advance. You can pretty much draw up most of the results already.
Which is fine considering the userbase. Would've been nice to see it being less echo chambery and less conservative...(Or I'm just salty that everything I like doesn't get any votes😂)
Sadly I don't need the tournament to spur my purchase of another microbrand...pretty much any excuse will do...
