Make or Buy?

So I found myself with a pressing matter that I think most of us tend to have. I told myself that after I filled my watch case that I would be done for a while. I have my favorites in a special case that my wife got me as a wedding present. I have another case that I thought was going to be enough to hold the rest.

I lied to myself. Maybe I knew it, but I think it was a way to make myself feel better for not getting another one and another one and ....

So the Question that I now ask ..... If you had the chance, would you buy a case that you liked, to display your watches? OR, given the chance, would you make one how you would like it ?

I did both. I got my 12 watch case about a year ago and I loved it, Comes wrapped in leather (or pleather??), has the box partitions with the little pillows and it has a glass top with a lock ( to stop the lowest of the low petty criminals). It's a super nice case that makes the watches face up. But when I sit at my desk and the top is closed I can't really see my watches.

So I decided to make one that lets me enjoy at least seeing them while I work at my desk for hours. I think I'm going to make a few more so that I can group pilot watches and dive watches and so on.

What do you guys think?

Happy Hunting.

If I had the time (hah) to make one, I still might not do it as the little elves that work for Amazon can do it better, faster, and cheaper…and get it in my hands in 2 days.

For what it's worth, it was made with spare wood I had in the garage in about an hour. But yea I've seen some nice ones on Amazon.

Haha thanks man I really appreciate that. A lego case would also kick ass.

If you can make it & it looks good

Go on ahead

Legos…

As if I need another project, but now I’m intrigued. I have plenty just not creative enough to know what to do with them.

Now wondering what I can create.

It is a super nice stand but I think the beauty of building something that you design or create is that if you want it to hold 10 watches in a row, go for it. If or if you wanted 9 of them in rows of three, terraced in a grid pattern, you can have that too without having to search for it or pay custom prices. Also, when it comes out right, it's another thing to be proud of. "Look at my beloved watches!", "Look at this sick stand/case I made" ... I saw a dude that made a coffee table that had about 50 watches built into it covered in a glass top. My wife loves me but not that much lol.

If I had the chance and was crafty enough I would make a case. Why not be attached to the case as much as the watches it houses. But it all depends on how confident you are with building one. I am not that crafty my self. Good luck 👍🏾

Awesome post! 🤩

Thank you for sharing this with us 🙌🏾

Is that set on the Lego site?

If you have the skills set to build one go that route. I have two left hands so it wouldn't work.

My personal opinion! I love watch cases that you can see and appreciate looking at your watches. The only concern is when I’m not at home when my wife and I had to go to work. I’m always worry if someone breaks into my hose and find my watch collection box. Even we do set the house alarm theirs is always a chance. So I keep my watches inside my SafeBox. I wish I can find a secure box that you can see thru but keeping secure at the same time. That will be my ideal watch Case Box!

I want to make my own. I want it to be totally unique & custom.

My problem is I don't really have space so I never start and I now have about 5 different designs ranging from variations on the standard box up to a wild live edge piece floating around in my head.

I also didn't want a box that lay the watches flat, facing up. I wanted them upright facing forward so they could be seen, but outside of expensive watch winders, this didn't seem to be a thing.

However, I then found an almost perfect box from a seller on Etsy, but it wasn't big enough for what I wanted. I messaged to see if they could increase the size and they could. I've made the order and now am just waiting for delivery.
