Vostok

Any Vostok fans out there? Politics aside, these are really cool and low cost watches with a ton of variety of case sizes and shapes. One thing you should be sure to do if you get one is immediately take the bracelet off, they are awful.

It's a great beater watch and easy to personalize. I like the acrylic crystal and wonky stem, and more watches should use their screw down caseback design.

I love them, still wish it has quickset date and clicky bezel action, tho

Love mine I take it for a walk here and there

I like the 720-case ones. I have a couple that I have my eye on

·

I love mine but I have to boycott them until this mess is over. I feel guilty even touching them.

·

Just got my first “BockTock”. It’s cool but I’m not crazy about the crown action.

·

I used to have a Vostok. Then in Spring in of 2022 I couldn't look at it anymore, so I sold it. Watches have more meaning to me outside of just design and specs.

·

I have one. Never could get the pins out to resize the bracelet. Their mesh bands I hear are decent. They are quirky-chic.

·

Buying one used wouldn't support Russia

·

Not sure what it is about these watches but they're quirky and the two I've owned were hand wound so they require more interaction day to day which only makes me love them more from the labor of love effect ❤️

Mine came on a leather strap. It was so bad. Lives on nylon straps now. Also replaced the polished chrome hands with these skeletonized Sinn-style hands. They are easier to see and read, and also don't block the artwork on the dial, so win-win!

I still wear mine, but I'm not even looking to buy another until the bad stuff stops. That's why I picked the straps for mine that I did, lol!

I wouldn't mind the hand winding of the was a quick set date function. Sometimes I go long enough between wears that I just leave it until the date is right that do the date change.

I know it's still not a quick process but if you get to midnight when the date is about to turn over you can move the hour hand back to 8 or 9 o'clock and turn the crown forward back to midnight and it will move the date an additional day forward. Sorry if I'm just reiterating a common trick but it made the process slightly more tolerable for me. Plus the one I own now has no date so I'm absolved of the annoying date set process 🙃

Indeed, they are some nice pieces. I own this Amphibia 170548-02 and have just placed it on a Richey smoke grey sailcloth strap. Cushion Case, Sandwich Dial, Exhibition caseback, 200M shown on the Dial.

That's a beauty, the bracelet is after market? And did you customize it at all? I've never seen that configuration

The band is factory. Straight from Vostok. Came with the watch. I updated with a nato strap 18mm

You might be surprised, I obtained this one for <$200. It also came with an alternate bezel that really shakes things up. Mounted on a Bond Nato and Shazam-a whole new watch identity!

eBay is pretty good.

Great historic brand with a lot of unique dials and low cost of entry! What's not to like?😁 This blue "Scuba Dude" in the 420 case is the most iconic IMO.

My first mechanical watch was a military dial Vostok from my dad, so the brand has a special sentimental value to me.

Oh, I know the trick, but if you're trying to go from the 5th to the 23rd, I honestly just leave it alone until the 6th, lol! Either that, or I just don't set the date. It's so small I can barely read it anyways, gotta hold it right to my face and lift my glasses while squinting. Man, getting old sucks....
