My godfather had this Caravelle, not running and missing a crown, on a silver Bracelet he had gotten in Africa decades ago. He had me take it to my watch maker, along with a Seiko Pogue he is having restored, to have the watch head separated from the bracelet. I asked how much it would cost to get the Caravelle running. I thought it was reasonable. The lug with is 19mm and he had this cool blue strap available so I had him put it on the watch. My godfather is letting me have the Caravelle for the cost of the repair, they day does not work and would have been costly to get working so I skipped that. I find this common on watches from the 70s.
Here are some more pictures of the watch and bracelet. The bracelet has only been through the ultra sound so it is still tarnished.

Respect. Posts like yours are part of the reason I’m a watchcruncher. Watches are just ‘things’ unless they have a story.

Thanks, I think he plans on giving the bracelet and Pogue to his son. He originally wanted to put the Pogue on the bracelet but it will not fit.
Oh, man! I haven’t seen a Caravelle since my childhood. Cool!
That’s so cool memories
That is way too cool. Beautifully, too. I'm a little jealous.😉

Thanks, I am not sure if I would ever have thought of a blue strap but it was the 19mm my watchmaker had out when we started looking for one and I thought it made the watch pop, so I went with it.
Why does it look like the date works? Coincidence?

Got you! Didn’t notice it’s slot initially.
Enjoy it in good health mate
Very special watch that has character and a lot of stories to tell, glad to see it get a new lease on life

Yeah since the day is stuck between days it is not that noticeable thus not a big deal. I will enjoy it.

Thanks, I could not see it getting binned when it needed so little to get the basics working again.
