Power Reserve and Winders

I was testing out one of my watch’s power reserve and I thought if I put the watch in the winder the power reserve will be ”reserved” and will not be affected but I noticed that the power reserve goes down anyway even though it’s in the winder? Am I misunderstanding? please Help me understand. Thanks.

Thanks for the info but the settings are about right. I even had a watch in the winder for days and was keeping proper time. I’m not sure the reserved is being used if it’s constantly moving? Either something is wrong with the watch or the winder? Maybe I should have done salt over the shoulder trick first 🤣
