Independent watchmaker looking to start a brand.

A friend and I finally came to a point in our lives to start a little watch company. We are currently coming up with a simple design for our first line.

Fantastic! Can you tell us more - that’s not much to go on!

·

So are you going to be assembling/designing/modifying movements, or more starting a microbrand starting with dials, cases, straps?  Either way, kudos!

I'm a certified watchmaker with experience with both Swiss watchmaking brands and the aerospace industry. My partner is a old school watchmaker with experience working in Switzerland with various watch manufacturers.

Right now we only came up with a name for the brand "Hunduhr" which is German for Dog Watch, we both are dog people. Hopefully this weekend I will be able to slap up a logo. Something that will look nice on a caseback and dial.

Our first watch will be a automatic movement assembled and quality tested in the United States using Swiss made components.

We have a prototype in-house movement based off the Unitas 6498 that I made with a 8mm lathe. We hope to mass produce produce it depending on how initial watchs sales do.

Here is what the prototype Unitas 6498 movement looks like. We originally used a Fricker case... we just found out they closed down in 2019. Was hoping to use them when we launched. But we wete too late. So exploring other possible companies that can make a stainless steel case in small batches.

Looks awesome so far. I’ve always wanted an independent from the likes of Felipe Pikullik, or similar artisan, but price and availability are two barriers for me concerning his watches, I hope to become a future customer!  Any Instagram page or anything to follow to keep updated?

This is very cool, I love the name too!

If it is my kind of watch, tooly and simple  12 3 6 9 shark tooth indices nice simple sword type hands dark/ black dial then I'm in.

·

Thank you friend!

·

How about Watch service?

What movements do have exper with?

You could be a good go to for our watches.

·

I've worked with Rolex product, and brands with ETA movements professionally. And vintage stuff as a hobby at home. The Hunduhr Watch entity will focus on selling and servicing Hunduhr watches.

What kind of watches do you need serviced? I might be willing to work on them as a independent watchmaker

·

Wow, would love to see more about your brand soon! If you're looking for a photographer, I'd be interested.

·

Thank you, I'll keep you in mind
