Super slow motion of 1963 chrono reset

Just got bored and decided to try to catch the reset of the chronograph hand on my 1963 in Super SloMo. Took a few tries to get the timing right (Samsung Note 9, I've got 0.2 seconds to get the timing right), but nailed it! Had to save it as a GIF to share here, and had to do some time editing to get it to look decent, but I think I got it good enough to share for fun. Always surprising to see like this, looks like instant reset to the naked eye.

OK, wait, do GIFs not work here? All I'm seeing is a static picture.

I never realized the hands bounced around like that.

That is a very cool shot. I had no idea that the chronograph would hands go back and forth like that 🤯

Nothing happens, maybe it’s a mobile app thing?

I use the site on my phone. The app is close but not quite there.

That's so cool. The second is wild! Minute hand is odd, it seems to register the minute and then cancel it back. It would be interesting to see how that works if there are several minutes elapsed.

Really good idea!

I've got a Longines with a Valjoux 7750 in it, and it does the same kind of thing.

Must be that, doesn't work on my phone, but people seem to be seeing it.

Yeah, I want to try that and see what happens. This one, I just ran it out until about 28 secs and reset. Takes several tries to get the timing right, so wanted to do as many as I could quickly.

Ok, got another shot with the minute hand doing the same kind of bounce as the seconds hand.

Thank you, that's awesome 😎

Look at how slowly the thumb pressing the bottom pusher is moving for perspective!! Wow! 🤯👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Logged in in browser and it works. So yeah app doesn’t do GIFs. Looks cool.

It's hard to get just right with a 0.2 second window and a super light reset button like the 1963 has! Had a couple times I got the minute hand down around the 15ish minute area, and accidentally reset while I was getting ready to film!

Do it! I've got 2 mechanical chronographs, and they both do the same thing. Curious now if a mechaquartz does it too, gonna have to get out the old Pagani Design Daytona homage tonight and see!
