Anybody else start their chronograph and then forget about it?

Wanted to time out 2 minutes quick. It was fine, got timed, but doing what I was doing after the 2 minutes, I completely forgot I had the Chrono running. So here I am 1h 11m and 12s later realizing it's still running. Oops!

Oh, I know, but I just feel silly when I look down and see it rubbing and remember why I started it. I've had times where I've started it at the grocery store to see how long it took to shop, only to notice when I take it off for bed that the red hand is moving!

That’s actually why I sold my Speedmaster. It was completely useless because I am too forgetful to remember to check it. I really wish somebody would make an egg timer complication… twist the bezel to whatever time you need to remember and it counts down and buzzes when it gets to zero.

I bought this watch more for the looks more than the usefulness, too be honest. Would love a Speedmaster.

I like that one. I don’t think I’ve seen that dial before. My aesthetic is usefulness. If a thing doesn’t serve a purpose I have no interest in it. After a year of finding my speedy timer running but having no idea what I was timing I listed it for sale. 😂 These days I’m all about easy to read divers and field watches.

Ditto. This one looks nice, but it's not actually super legible, the hands can kind of disappear between the subdials sometimes. I've been on the fence about selling it for at least a year. I don't wear it very often.

That happens to me more than I’d like to admit.

It's definitely happened.

If you don’t wear it, and it doesn’t bring your joy sell it. You can be a watch enthusiast without being a hoarder. I think a lot of people forget that on this website.

That's why I'm on the fence. I do like looking at it, but I don't like wearing it all the time. But it was my first Swiss mechanical, feels like my anchor watch. But I also bought for a really good price and could make a decent profit selling it. And that's why I'm on the fence....

Yeah…. I was the same way with my speedy. It was my first mechanical watch and my first watch after 20 years of not wearing one. It was almost a year after I took it off before I actually sold it. I’ll tell you what, it was liberating when it did sell. Now I don’t have any qualms about selling watches that aren’t perfect for me. I’m selling my NTTD right now. I love the watch but there’s just something about it that doesn’t sit right with me. So up on Craigslist it goes. I’ll wear it every now and again while I wait for a buyer and reevaluate if I still want to sell. Maybe I’ll change my mind in a few months or maybe someone will make me an offer tomorrow 🤷.
