First week with my StudioUnderD0gs Desert Sky

Image

It was back in September 2022 when the order for the Studio Underd0g Desert Sky was placed. Since then, it's been something of an intentional game of hide-and-seek in the mind, where the memory of the watch was hidden away, waiting to surprise upon its sudden emergence. Last week, that surprise came in the form of a delivery notification.

Upon its arrival, the Desert Sky immediately began to cast a spell. In person, the textured dial and three-dimensional effect of the crystal transcended the limitations of photography in the most compelling way. It's rare that a timepiece below the $1000 mark can elicit such a reaction. The engine inside this watch is the workhorse known as the Seagull ST1901. Sure, it's mass-produced and more cost-effective to replace than service, but that takes nothing away from its visual allure, especially when viewed through the exhibition case back.

If there's a fly in the ointment, it's the strap. By no means a deal-breaker, but the texture of the leather left me with a sense of something amiss. Its color, however, harmonizes well with the dial, which is a plus. Fortunately, having had prior experience with Aaron from Aaron Bespoke, the solution was at hand. His recommendation of a gray cashmere strap with champagne stitching and a blue leather backing was the icing on the cake.

The Studio Underd0g Desert Sky, with its new strap, has now found its place in my rotation. It's the perfect blend of fun and finesse, and it's been a pleasure to share this journey with you. I hope this first foray into watch reviewing has provided as much enjoyment for you as it has for me.

Very nice, love the strap.

Congratulations on a beautiful timepiece.

Very nice!!!

That's an head-turner, for real. Nice cop!

I have a Watermelon coming in August. I can relate to the hide-and-seek in the mind you mention! Congratulations on a cool timepiece!

·

I've always wanted to see a watch with that color combo. I think a desert tan case like on the iwc top gun with a sky blue dial would be sick. But that looks really cool!

·

Great watch. I like this better than the Watermelon for everyday wearability. The strap combo is genius.

I'm curious about the Sea-Gull movement. It looks stunning but how does it hold up long term?

We will see how long it last. 🤷‍♂️

Congratulations! It looks great, and makes me even more impatient to receive mine. I must have been one of the last to order, as I was torn between which variant to get, and your photos make me really pleased that I had opted for the Desert Sky. That strap is awesome!

Beautiful 🥰 Enjoy

Very nice, particularly as paired with that strap. Aaron did you a solid!

That bespoke strap elevates this watch to new heights! 👍
