It's modestly sized compared to other recent chronograph re-issues from the brand.

'Affordable' Daytona 126529LN vibes that isn't a homage and has some legit racing heritage anyone?

It's not a meca-quartz with a useless 24Hr indicator so it's a plus I guess.

It looks pretty legit to me!

Not a bad looking watch I reckon. Pity it doesn't come with the OG rally style bracelet.

Looks great! I have the 1st re-issue three hander 516, but I'm afraid this will suffer from the same as PRX chrono... Just too thick.

Another good effort from Tissot

+s

Good price

Largely faithful to the original

No date

41mm

Bombproof base movement (ETA 7753)

Increased 68 hour power reserve

Free sprung balance regulated at the factory and highly resistant to shock, unlike a traditional regulating organ

Display caseback is fun even if the 7750 series aren't the prettiest

Very difficult for a watchmaker to regulate if it does becomes inaccurate

It'll have to go back to Tissot for servicing and they refuse to service many of their vintage watches. E.g. My original 70s Pr516 three hander. So the lifetime of this watch will probably be limited to a decade or so after which Tissot will refuse to service it.

Tissot couldn't resist a bit of shiny shiny blingification of the dial to make it look more like a Daytona. Sub-dials now silver unlike the original's white. Markers are now applied with the lume plots inside polished metal unlike the original's lume directly on the dial. Hands are polished silver. All makes it less legible and less practical than the original.

I hate the 1853. Seems naff and trying too hard to prove your heritage. The old logo is infinitely preferable in my eyes. At least Tissot have used a period appropriate font.

13.7mm is disappointingly thick for a manual wind chrono.

Lumed bezel will look weird alongside the otherwise very retro aesthetic.

It's pretty standard for a manual chronograph at 13.7mm.

Same depth as the Speedie and 1mm thinner than the manual Nivada Chronomaster, 0.5mm thinner than the manual Hamilton intramatic ... and the Tissot offers 100m WR.

Agreed. It's a smart move from Tissot. The visual similarities to the Daytona are obvious (I can see 100's of YouTube clips calling it an 'affordable alternative' already!) but they can market it as a re-issue of their own design with a genuine racing pedigree.

At the price (and in 3-6 months it'll be $1200 on the grey market) it's gonna be pretty popular I reckon and will sell well.

I'm not really interested in buying one but I reckon it's a good release and I look forward to checking it out in person.

I love the design and pops of color. I did see a comment on one of the watch news instagram posts about “a bezel by committee” because who would need both a tachymeter and pulse? That is unless this is targeted at the nurse hitting the race track after a shift. 😂

... I reckon I could do with a pulsometer if I was in an F1 car.

Very nice. Well done Tissot
