Is DuFrane a unicorn?

I knew that someday I'd want a Swiss movement, but I thought I'd have to save up to a MINIMUM of $700 dollars and maybe more for a solid everyday wear. But this thing from DuFrane shocked me at $500.

It's got a Swiss movement and stays under 11mm thick for good dress wear and has 100meter water resistance for peace of mind and comes regulated to within 8 seconds a day!

Is this my inexperience that makes me so impressed by this price? Are there any similar watches? I'd love to hear about it.

Its a very attractive watch dial with thermally blued hands and the price does not look unreasonable given the Swiss movement.

A couple of small stylistic things.

  1. The rose gold is pvd, which could mean wear over time.
  2. The watch case looks like it was adapted from it's divers, which are very slab sided.  Not a good or bad thing but it may dress it down slightly.
  3.  No endlink fitted bracelet by OEM.  It means it will be hard to find one that fits if you choose if you want one (and basically impossible to match tone with the rose gold).  20mm lug width means you're going to have a great strap selection though.

Nice choice!

I enjoyed my time with one of these a little while back. Definitely a well made watch. I have a review of a Waterloo on my YouTube channel if you're interested I can share the link.

Yeah, there's a stainless steel version that would be my pick. There wasn't as pretty of a picture though.

Oooh I should be looking Tissot's way for sure. It doesn't have the water resistance I'd want on this exact one, but I bet I'd find it if I look through the catalog.

Thanks!

Be careful with Tissot…some of their cheaper stuff isn’t of the same quality and uses plastic parts.  In particular, avoid anything that says “Swissmatic” or has a 15 jewel chronograph.
