My Wrist-Time Leader Board of 2023

These 10 watches made it to the top of my wrist time statistics. That is 7x worn in 2023. I am surprised by this statistics - if I had to name my favorite watches, my selection would have been different. But hey, as it seems, data from 2023 tells it's own story.

From top left to lower right - not indicating a specific order, they all shared 7 days on my wrist:

SBSA143: I am somewhat surprised that this is among my most worn watches. It made it to 7 days in 2023 because I wore it last week.

SLA053: Blue MM300 - same surprise here; I own almost a dozen MM300, but would not have selected this as my "favorite" when asked to name one on Jan 1st 2023. That would have been SLA045.

SBDC075: Orange Monster - certainly a very beautiful watch but I'd would have had SZSC003 as my favorite on the list. Made it into the top "7 days in 2023" because I wore it last week.

SPB259: The Ginza Alpinist - a real beauty of a watch. Bracelet is a bit rattly, though. Dial is spectacular and among the best I have in my collection.

SBDY051: Green grenade dial King Turtle. If only the candbar cyclops would not be so misaligned. Do I care? No, not really.

SBDC029: The Shogun. A completely overlooked and ignored watch. I love this watch.

SPB115: I adore the Nutella colored dial.

SPB237: This model in combination with a bracelet is an awesome watch.

SBSA165: The stealthy character of this model makes it a super versatile watch. Unless you want to read the time in the dark - obviously the lume is rather "meh".

SZSC005: The Ninja Turtle - another surprise on this list.

Some take-aways from 2023: I am surprised how many black watches made it to the top. I don't own 40% watches with black cases. I am for sure a diver/field watch wearer. I do have dress watches but don't seem to wear them often enough to have that type represented on the wrist time leaderboard.

My favorite one is the Seiko.

So 10 watches account for 19% of the available wrist time. How many watches are there in your collection? Is the remaining 81% spread across those or are there some that just don’t get a look in? Are all of your watches Seiko? 🤔

I am a one watch brand collector. With a little bit of attention I managed to wear all my watches at least once in 2023. Had to pick a few from the shoebox the last few days of 2023 though.

If these all only got 7 days (not guaranteed), then that's 70 days, leaving 295 days in the year. The minimum number of additional watches that could exist in the collection is 50 (295 days / 6 wears = 49.17, must round up as rounding down would mean one of these additional watches would have 7 wears). He also mentioned that some watches had to be picked specifically to get a day's wrist time. So the floor for the number of watches is 60. I'm guessing 77.

People can say what they want about Seiko but here we have a one-brand collection in various styles, colors and shapes. No other brand has such a selection with a beautiful dial on each one.

Speaking of which, your collection includes my all time favorite watch dial, the blue Cobblestone Ginza. If Seiko would release that watch again with the hands frozen at 10:10 and no movement at all, I might still buy it.

I found this subset of watches from my collection surprisingly monochromatic, not to say boring.
