Need help! Re: Black PVD Watch

I’ve been lusting after a black PVD/DLC watch and just need some ideas in <$5k range to shoot for. I’m looking to add one this year but I just don’t really know exactly what I’m after. I’ll know it when I see it tho. Any suggestions?

In that price range you may want to look at a DLC coating rather than PVD - harder wearing 👍

Absolutely open to idea. I’ll change the OP to reflect that!

I would argue skipping PVD and DLC all together at $5k. That gets you in ceramic and carbon territory.

Ceramic (can be had for $3500 or less if you look around)

Next, for the budget minded, the Formex Leggera. Comes in a variety of colors.

That is just two examples of watches where that materials will last longer and wear better than DLC or PVD.

If you fancy a micro brand then this looks a great deal if you can get shipped out to where you are:https://www.marloewatchcompany.com/collections/all-watches/products/pacific-66

Looks great on that racing style strap with the punched out bits! I could be tempted myself!!

I'd check out these two. The Santos is ADLC. The Zenith is microblasted titanium. Both in the &6k range pre-owned so not far off your budget. I'd stretch a bit if possible for either iconic brand.

Sinn - a few pvd options sub£5k

Here’s mine. Breitling Navitimer 8. I think the newer models are called Aviators.

Norqain do the Adventure Sport with a DLC coating for about half your budget.

I’ve got the non dlc coated Chronograph and love it.

Longines makes a PVD Legend Diver fitted to a folding clasp and black rubber strap. I had to special order one here in Toronto, Canada so my ad said that he could not give me a healthy discount due to the fact it was current but the watch is quite good quality, probably cheaper in America than here listed for $3800 cad.

This was a great shout. I’ve set my sights on a Formex Essence in forged carbon. Thanks for the nudge.
