What should I sail with.

Along with my love of Watches I have a love of sailing. I would like to get a mechanical watch to wear when sailing. Yachtmaster/II is out. Not really my cup of tea. Most of the watches on on the poll are regatta oriented except the Oris which you tell the tides with. If there are any fellow sailers out there please show me what you wear. On the digital side of things I do like the Garmin. If you have Garmin instruments it interfaces with them, which is sweet.

There's ana-digi options too:

Citizen Promaster Sailhawk (and older Yacht Timers)

Tissot Sail-Touch

Casio Sea Path-Timer (newer ones are digital, older ones ana-digi)

I’ve tried on the Skipper, mind my wrist is fairly skinny so it may wear better on you, but I absolutely love it. The crystal looks so good in person. If I was on the water though, I can’t help feeling I’d rather have a steel bracelet, but that might not be a problem provided you don’t capsize!

Look to the Tudor Black Bay Chronograph for a 200m chrono.

I tried on that Dat Watt. It’s so damn handsome AND cool looking, but overwhelmed my wrist. I voted for it, but go with the Skipper

For me, I don’t really sail, I’m on powerboats a good bit and on any boat, I’m more of a quick at a glance (legible), light weight watch person. Something that isn’t too thick as there are a lot of things to bang it on or get caught around, think rigging, towers, poles, wheels, gears, ratchets….when sailing/yachting/boating.

If just in the spirit, how about a Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer or a Cartier Santos. Something different, the Marine Chronometer or JFK style Omega/Cartier. Ooh, and an a LV Tambour style regatta.

Of those you listed the skipper for aesthetics and the relationship of the color ont he deck of the Americas cup boat.
