Can you use a chronograph watch as a countdown timer?

I just learned i can use my diver watch bezel as a timer and also to calculate elapsed time (which can work as a cronograph and this features makes my divers watch more functional and practical. So i want to know if it is possible to use a chronograph watch to do much more than a stopwatch.

Many Chronographs have a bezel that allows you to use the stopwatch function to make calculation. The most common is the measure of speed. Other common bezels allow you to measure the distance of sound or to calculate a pulse.

The Breitling Navitimer measures all kinds of things.

Nice point, but sometimes your phone may die and your watch wont

Mission Timer style chronographs are designed this way.

Look at the TimeFactors Mission Timer and Sinn.

Not impossible but not intuitive at all. Same thing with using an elapsed time bezel as a countdown. Can you? Yes. But why not just get a countdown bezel?

I don’t view watches as jewelry, though I totally get why some might.
