Damasko DK32: wrist impressions and more

Image

Hello fellow Crunchers! I hope you are happily enjoying your watches today. I want to share with you some thoughts on my DK32.

For those who don't know this watch: it is from Damasko, a german manufacturer. A few numbers, diameter: 39.00mm, overall height: 9.95mm, lug width: 20.00mm, lug to lug: 48,0mm, weight without strap: 57.00g. 200 meters WR. It comes with an in-house caliber. You may find more info Damasko site: https://www.damasko-watches.com/

Damasko A26-2 caliber. Is it any good?

That clasp...uhm🙄

What I like:

  • dimensions and weight are just perfect for me. It feels light on your wrist, super confy, you forget it is there.

  • readability: it is its strong suit and one of the reason I bought it. The main ingredients are: essential dial design, matte black dial. Full lume, white large hands and an ok AR coating.

  • Neutral palette: its black and white aspect makes it a strap naughty boy: it will go easily with every strap!

What I am not sure of:

  • its submarine steel, bead-blasted, surface hardened case should be quite resistant. I had the watch for only few months to draw a definitive assessment, but so far so good: not a scratch.

  • its in-house movement has to prove itself to me, yet. Damasko claims it is adjusted to 6 position and to an accuracy of +/- 5 sec/day. In my experience when I received the watch it was waaaay less accurate. I had to send it back. It is nowdays running within those specs. We'll see.

  • its clasp. It is light, thin. (pictures below) It gives me the impression of being a "cheap" one. I am not saying it is so. Maybe the stainless steel it is made of is super resistant. I cannot tell but it does not seem to belong to an almost 2000 EUR watch. For sure it does contribute to keeping the watch very light and confy to wear.

  • its value for money standing: it is a almost 2000 EUR watch. Time will tell if it is enough watch for that money.

What I DID not like:

  • Damasko customer service: one of my worst experience, ever. When I say ever I mean in general, for any product I ever bought, not only watches. As I said I had to send back the watch to the factory, right away, because its accuracy was way off. What happened after, well...I promised myself to write a dedicated post about it, for your benefit. Suffice to say that I own other Damasko watches, but because of their poor customer service I am not going to consider Damasko ever again. And that is a big, sad shame.

I cannot wait to read your thought on this.🙏

Poor customer service is inexcusable and would for me prohibit any dealings with a company (especially for the price of the watch)

I totally agree with you Marc. For this very reason no more Damasko for me.

Which is a shame as you seemed to have quite a thing for them 😕

Thank you! The clasp looks terrible and cheap. not what I'd expect. Are you willing to share more details of the customer service experience? 👍

I agree. In fact you will not find a single picture of their clasp in the Damasko online pages. I am glad I posted my take on that. Sharing information can help somebody else making informed choices.

Thank you for sharing this! I was once considering Damasko too. They promote this submarine steel as something non-magnetic… well it is, but also it does nothing to protect the movement from magnetism. However, the way they advertise it implies magnetic protection at least for me. Might indeed be that I am/was not knowledgeable enough but I had this…feeling so eventually I hesitated.

·

You are correct. Damasko online site is one of the worst you can visit, nowdays. It feels like you are browsing a site from the early 90's. Besides that, I am always a bit skeptical when dealing with a product not well known. I am not saying that the info they provide is necessarily incorrect but lacking completeness, for sure. I brought, as an example, the total lack of picture of their clasp. Your point on their supposedly non-magnetic steel is another example. This is why I wanted to share my first hand 2 cents. If I can help even a single fellow watch lover, I reached my goal and spent well my time.

The customer service absolutely rubbish.

Thanks for pointing me to this post. If I was leaning towards the in-house movement, you’ve steered me clear of it. I think I’d go for the Selita. Yikes on that clasp 🤯
