What’s your favorite watch for giant octopus hunting?

116600

Maybe the perfect modern Rolex? Matte dial, slim 20mm lugs, great proportions etc

Answer any PP perpetual calendar, why?

Because I’ll never be able to afford one and I’ll never catch one 😂

Ah well one must dream…….

The “regular” submariner is sufficient.

We are talking giant octopus hunting here?! No regular scuba nonsens

If it's good enough for Zissou...

I like your way of thinking. Dive down to the bottom and lie in wait for decades. They would’t expect that

There is nothing regular about the Rolex submariner. The price is many multiples of truly regular watches. And the availability… easier to find giant cephalopods than to find one in the wild at retail price. 😆

I remain a devoted apologist for the Sea Dweller, Rolex the brand however is beyond my simple cognitive abilities so I am happy to spend my whimsical spare dollars on more conventional horology transactions. I never tire of reflecting on my meeting a gent a few years ago who was picking up a new watch from the Toronto, Breitling HO, was wearing a Rolex James Cameron Sea dweller Deepsea watch. He casually mentioned to me that he buys his Rolex watches through a business associate directly from Rolex Canada at cost. He had no idea what the Navitimer Rattrapante was for that a few customers were checking out. He did announced loudly that Breitlings were his favourite to wear but just sucks with regards to value retention. Oops we were talking about hunting giant octopi, I have no experience, prefer smaller octopus either grilled or served sashimi style in a good Japanese sushi bar where the top cutters wear amazing timepieces, I have even spotted vintage steel Rollies!

·

It sure is the perfect ceramic Rolex!

But even though I adore the 116600 I‘d suggest a Deepsea for the Job. When everything goes wrong, your last resort could be beating the thing to death with your watch and for that some extra mass might come in handy 😉

The Octopus Kraken, they can talk to each other while I sneak up behind the sea monster.

Good point. A matte dial is not that usefull as a sledgehammer.

Great choice. Mercha suits are an essential for both giant octupus hunting and fighting kaijus. See you down there with your Suuuuuuper Deep

I wear a Speedmaster. The crystal will pop off like a Canary in a Coal mine. That’s my signal to resurface before I die.

I have been thinking to trade up 116600 with my 114060. I’m attached to my sub being my daily for past 5 years but I really love to own this 116600 too. Can’t have both 😔

Do it. Sounds weird but I allmost never meet others with Seadwellers. Subs i see all over.

The matte dial, no maxi lugs, 20 mm lugs, the bezel everything i cooller in my opinion. The only things is the 114060 is mort comfy
