GBD-200 vs. Swatch for 80's Theme Event

OK Watch fam, I need some advice. My company is throwing an 80's themed party in early January. I have to put together an outfit. I got Zubaz pants (the zebra striped ones that were so popular back then), crazy retro sunglasses, an MTV T-shirt and Chuck Taylors. Now, for the watch. The first contender is the most authentic of the two, a Swatch from the 1984 collection. This watch embodies the 80's. But my issue is that it is $85 and I will very likely only wear it once, for this party. But it is certainly the best watch to fit the theme. The second contender is the neon yellow G-Shock GBD-200. I've actually had my eye on this watch for a while. I love very loud G-Shocks and the yellow color is also very "80's". But the watch is not. It's not a 1980's 5600 square or anything like that, but I probably would wear it a lot for things like workouts and such. So, it's spend $85 for a one shot thing where most people may not even notice or spend $150 for a watch that kinda fits the theme, but one that I will get some use out of. Thoughts?

I assume there is no time to obtain a used Swatch? Not all of them became so collectible.

Event is on 1/4, so there is a bit of time, but not a crazy amount. I never thought to go used via something like ebay.

I voted Swatch because it matches your event theme, and I suspect you'd find reasons to wear it more than you think right now.

I would go with the watch you’re going to wear on a longer-term basis.  Unless your colleagues are watch people, they won’t have a clue whether your G-Shock is authentic ‘80s or not.

This is kinda what I'm thinking too.

My take?
Get a Casio from their vintage lineup with a metal bracelet for 20$.

Wear it loose and have fun, enjoy it in the party and pass it along to someone in your life 😉

Go with the G-shock.  Aside from you using it more than once, even though it’s not time period accurate, it looks the part and close enough and will look perfectly at home with your 80s ensemble

Despite historical anachronism, everyone thinks the F-91W is reminiscent of the 80's. And everyone should have one anyway.

If you have a 5600 or 6900 Gshock already, I would wear that and buy the Gshock gbd 200 to add it to the collection. Both the 5600 and 6900 are also reminiscent of the 80's, and buying the gbd 200 just adds another great watch for your collection. If you need to explain the purchase to your wife. Then you can say, "I bought it for the party."

Sorry, the bug is strong in me. 😂

I have two G-Shocks, but I don't have a 5600 or a 6900. I prefer the ani-digi models, big, bold colors and I have the GA-2000-1A2 and the GA2200M-4A.

No wrong, no wife.
