Hi everyone I just wondered how you would classify this 42mms ecodrive
citizen.I was trawling the net looking for a field/military type watch , I came across this and given the price I could,nt resist this anyway but would you call this a field watch or if not how do you define the term field when it comes to watches

Looks like an Aviator/Flieger type. High contrast between dial and text, large numbers, big crown, and size. The hands also look like they’re from an airplane instrument panel.
It could be described as a flieger or a field watch to be honest. It has characteristics of both.
I have the same model I believe, in black. I've worn it on various straps. Currently on a grey tropical nato. It's a great daily and definitely robust enough to be a field watch!

I would agree that it could really be considered either a field or a pilot although I do tend to see the 3-6-9 and 3-6-9-12 watches more frequently referred to as pilot watches rather than field watches.
It is very similar to this Orient Star Sports Outdoor which is supposed to be a field watch. Personally I would classify them as pilot watches. The Orient even have an onion crown 🙂
