Lorier Hydra or Hyperion

Been wanting a travelers GMT and came across Lorier. Which would you recommend and why? Trying to decide between these two for my 21th Birthday. I have a 6 1/2 wrist for context.

I think the 60s retro style and awesome colorways of the backalite-like dial makes the Hyperion the clear winner. The Hydra III has its own unique character too, but something about the red and blue tones of the bezel on the Hyperion make it absolute 🔥 in my book!

You can’t go wrong. I also have a ~6.5 wrist.

The bakelite look of the bezel was a huge draw for me. But honestly, you can’t go wrong mate ✌️

Of the 2 the Hydra looks better to me, but I love the Astra

I have the Hydra and a neptune- love the hydra on my smaller wrist. Best news is there's no wrong choice going with Lorier. They are a married couple who eat and sleep watches. I have met both a couple of times and they are super down to earth and genuinely love what they do.

I use my GMT bezel all the time and dislike using the GMT hand. And if a movement is a traveler GMT one, the bezel becomes even more important. So for me, it’s more of a practical question

Hyperion. I have the skyward edition with the white dial and love it. It’s such a classy, understated timepiece. Feels more retro to me too than the Hydra.

Only thing I can critique Lorier on is the bracelet. Doesn’t feel or look like quality to me. But it is understated just like the piece itself, which I enjoy about them.

As an owner of both, I’d have to say I prefer the Hydra. The design is a bit more unique and it’s absolutely beautiful, as well as extremely functional and comfortable.

6.5" wrist here, went with the Hydra.

Main reason, I just need to track another time zone, usually back home time for calling Mrs. SolidYetti and BabyYetti.

Once I'm in the new place, I want/like a bezel for timing activities.

And it's got the coolest ghosty color.

The last thing I need is to ruin my Lorier Triptych, but those bezels with that dial...🤌🏻

I prefer the Hydra as I am not a fan of the Pepsi, Coke, Root Beer, or other soft drink named bezels.

It depends if you want the gmt to be the primary function of the watch or secondary.

I want to say the hydra, as it would be the watch I would personally want feature wise (gmt, timing bezel, date, quick set hour), BUT....

I'm pretty sure they just reused the same hands and with the dial configuration they are too long. The minute hand goes past the minute track and into the gmt area. Minor but it drives me nuts.

I just got my new Hyperion with the latest stock update from LORIER. I absolutely love the retro look. The Hydra looks great in photos as well. The bracelet is beautiful and has become my wife’s favorite watch for me to wear. I have scuffed up the crystal a bit so you should know that’s a risk. Nothing a little poly watch can’t fix.

Thank you everyone who voted and helped me decide with photos and comments. I’ll definitely be getting the Hyperion but since it’s currently unavailable, I’ll just have to wait. Thanks again everyone!
