Pawn Shop Movado

I wasn't planning on buying a watch but wandered into a pawn shop to browse. They had a ton of watches...mostly junk.

But this Movado Heritage caught my eye. I've never had a Movado but I've seen them at mall jewelry stores. I know they list around 600-800 USD. I've never considered one before but took a $100 gamble on this one.

The leather strap was pliable and comfortable. Sapphire crystal. I liked the look so I went to Walgreens and bought a new battery and ended up with a new summer watch.

Movado, I think, get a bad wrap. Yes they have become more of a fashion brand but the make decent watches in my opinion. I have two. One is pushing 30 years old and the other is pushing 20 years old.

I’ve never actually looked at Movado before. I’ve seen their ads over the years but I can’t really say I know anything about the brand. It will be fun to give it a trial.

My mom worked in jewelry stores when I was growing up and they sold them. It was considered one of the better brands they kept on stock. This my exposure and why it was my first higher end watch. I had timex mainly growing up.

Sharp looking watch…not sure what’s preventing them from stepping up like Timex and other brands have

I have to admit the second had is terribly misaligned. I’d be pissed if I paid full retail for this watch but it’s just mildly annoying for a pawnshop watch…

If the second hand is misaligned, I think that dial makes up for it. And with its new battery you bought, it should go for years. What happened to Movado?? I'm guessing they don't make any watches like this any more. You couldn't give me their (in)famous trademark watch, the one with the almost blank dark dial. Lazy minimalism.

Yeah…I never wanted one of those either. But this one caught my eye. I’m happy.
