My watches are good investments!

Alright I hear some of you think that buying watches are not a good investment. You are probably right! Or wrong?

Considering that investing is a way to have more after then before and it's a gain not a lost my watches are all very good investments.

Some more then others of course but for the most part I gained.

I gained a fair amount of pleasure!

My sne573, for instance, that I've been wearing and enjoying almost every day since I got a wrist on it serves me so much!

She's solar and the bezel I need for work many times a day.

This little seiko snkl45! Wow! I found it second hand and it will tic for so many years bringing me joy over and over!

I won't mention all my watches here but they sure do in their own ways give me alot of goodies for my moniess!

Compare this to so many goods, electronics programed to obsoleteness so early! Phones tv's name it!

To your car! The mass amount of gaz tires oils repairs! All this to finish in a pile of scrap in 15 years or so!

Name a thing you will pass for generations like that gem on your wrist!

My watches are very profitables items! Very!

The time on wrist divided by the dollars I have put in them are all so worth it!

What's your opinion about this?

Is there a watch or maybe many of them you consider for various reasons a very good investment? Because it's a tool or maybe just a very good beautiful watch that makes you say wow this watch was worth each penny I have put in it!

There's a part of sarcasm in this but yeah my watches are good investments!

Love hearing about your passion for the SNE573. And you have a nice Seiko collection. If you are counting joy and smiles as payoff, sure. Monetary? No. Almost all watches lose value and those that gain, usually lose to traditional investments over the long haul. Yes, there are quick flips, but those are hard to scale into a reasonable investment strategy. When talking couple hundred dollar watches? They are awesome if you buy them used and plan to sell it off later for a small loss, heck maybe you make a couple dollars. That is before factoring in time to buy, sell, ship, etc. Many folks start out doing just that; Buy it used and gradually trade up taking little losses along the way. To the car comparison, one can always buy a Lotus Elise drive it like hell for two years and trade it away for basically what they paid. It is one of the rare exceptions (not including insurance, maintenance, and consumables).

Sadly, the day will come when the SNE will die, and for all intent and purposes, will be monetarily worthless, but memory rich. It is a $200 watch secondhand, love it, wear it, and worry not about resale.

I love watches but you lost me comparing watches to phones LOL. Just checking my work emails on my phone it's a way better investment than a wristwatch even if my phone dies after a year.

You are all right in terms of money. But isn't the gain of enjoying a watch for many years worth it? I like what I'm reading so far! Interesting to know about how you all see this!

A white gold Rolex is what I recommend you for great investment

·

Like cars…it’s all about comps…look at what the watches actually sell for not they’re listed at…enjoy your watches

·

Agreed, watches and collecting them also give me a lot joy, evoking curiosity, fascination and marvel at their technical attributes. Not a bad return at all! 🤙❤️

Ouf no! That would be a very bad investment for me haha 😂! I mean I love watches but I don't own them to resell or to make money out of them. I get them to wear them enjoy them and keep my money for traveling and for so many other things way more important! 😊

Like I was writing to me they worth the money I've spent because they were affordable and they gave me way more in return than the money spent! Cheers!

I mean, if we redefine “good investment” like that, then sure, you’re right. 🙂

Its not a good investment, but it's an okay long long term investment if you can buy the right models. I started my journey (seriously) around 15 years ago. My chrono24 is +82%, it was +100%+++ during 2021-2022.

I'm realizing that the general consciencious is relating investment with money. And that's also true in a way. I'm investing alot in my daughter education and I will never make any financial profit out of it. But it is and always will be my most profitable investment.
