Unfortunately this eBay purchase is a bad one. Crown was a bit hard to pull out. ( but did get easier) When I managed to do this, when adjusting the time, it would need just a bit more effort, at different points around the dial. Then it lost 10 minutes within an hour.
Vendor denied there being a crown problem. .
In hindsight I shouldn't have bought it, as the vendor made these statements.
"I wound it and it kept time for an hour. " An hour, keeping time!
Also stated "I'm no watch expert". Yet the vendor sells watches on Ebay, so must buy them from somewhere, therefore must have some knowledge.
I raised a case with Ebay, as vendor was unhelpful.
Rainbow2429 avoid this vendor.
Slightly eccentric, wicked sense of humour. Self confessed watch cheapskate, who tinkers with watches. Love motorbikes, to date, I've ridden about 250,000 miles, 113,000 of which are on my BMW 1150GS....

I'd polished the acrylic crystal and cleaned the expanding bracelet. 🙄
Thanks for the warning
Shame, it's a beautiful watch. The crown doesn't look original unless it lost all its plating.
There are so many fake 17-jewel Roamer and Oris, my first instinct would have been to avoid this watch. But I have to admit it is elegant. I hope your problem gets solved

Not much plating left

To be fair, a description of running for only an hour should be an indication that the watch needs servicing and that there’s likely some issue inside. I guess it would come down to how much you paid - if it was priced as a working watch or priced as a watch that needed some work.

I got carried away, it was only £40. But I was irritated by the vendors response.

I don’t know anything about Roamers, but you got a beautiful watch for £40! 🍻
Pretty awesome looking watch. Might be worth it to invest in a service of the movement to get things sorted out??
Sorry for the frustration. It definitely should have been labeled for service or parts rather than running. I admit I read eBay descriptions quite closely when looking at vintage stuff. But then again, I’m looking for cheap ones I can practice watchmaking on.
Thanks for the report. I’ve completed three low dollar purchases on eBay that turned out similarly; whether from ignorant junk-men who have a lot of watches as a byproduct of their vocation, or from deceptive individuals.
As a consequence, my standards have become much higher for item descriptions, seller feedback, context than before. Buyer beware—my mantra.
Good luck out there. Don’t let it deter you.

There’s always a risk, but it’s much less when paying with PayPal. Even though PayPal typically looks out for the buyer, nothing is guaranteed.
From the sound of it, it's likely that something to do with the cannon pinion isn't right. A full service will likely rectify the crown issue, as it could just be some junk in the keyless works.

Time will tell. A bad pun 🤣

My thoughts too, if you can find a watchmaker willing to service it, it could very well be a great watch. I actually have no idea what that would cost though
Hopefully I'll have a go myself one day, need to muster the enthusiasm
I was browsing the bay a couple of weeks ago and saw a watch very similar to this (might have even been the same one). Sorry to hear its not up to muster, its a pretty watch though (do think the crown is not original). There's a lot of 'junk' at the cheaper end and a lot of sellers either a bit conservative with the truth description or ignorant (benefit of the doubt here) hopefully you'll find a good local watchmaker who'll service it at a reasonable cost, and you'll have a sweet watch (probably not an automatic so will be cheaper to service) I've bought a lot of cheap watches off the bay and always factor in a service.
Ebay sided with me, returning to vendor for a refund.
