Could be an automated response or a factory defect. Cause that level of magnetization only comes from the likes of an MRI machine.
I don’t think even airport security scanners would affect watches as my affordable Seiko Alpinist and Seiko 5 easily survives those scanners. So it could be one of the two things I mentioned earlier
