The ADDIESDIVE Deep Sea Hunter Dive Watch Review

I've got a lot of good quality and what I deem to be "expensive" watches in my collection. I consider myself lucky enough to own two Sinn pieces, an Oris plus a bunch of Seiko, Orient and Citizen pieces.

I've always been a bit suspicious of the offerings from Ali Express and Chinese watches in general. My misgivings were were pretty much put to rest when a good while back I picked up a Steeldive 6105 homage that turned out to be a great quality and dependable watch. So when I saw nearly every budget watch channel on YouTube touting the Ali Express 11.11 sale I decided to take another shot on a cool budget watch.

This time I landed on the Addiesdive Factory store and came across this beauty.

Image

I immediately recognized the watch it is a homage of, the Seiko Prospex SBDY065. The subtle difference being the choice of marine life on the dial. While Seiko's Save the Ocean Special Edition depicts Manta Rays the Addisdive clearly has the Whale Shark which Citizen chose to have on their limited edition diver. I got to try on the SBDY065 (the Turtle case) at a local AD but at the time my personal accountant and book keeper (wife) wouldn't approve the nearly $500 expenditure so sadly it want back into the case.

The published specs for this watch was really impressive. A Seiko NH35, sapphire crystal with AR. 200m of water resistance. 316L stainless steel case. BGW9 lume, screw down crown. 120 click ceramic luminous bezel. The dimensions are great with a 44.5mm diameter case and a length of 42.5mm. Its 14.5mm thick which is fine for my Shrek like 8.5" wrist. It's case back is pretty nice too.

All for the incredible 11.11 sale price of $86.95! Well how could I resist? My wife had some ideas on how I could have managed to but they sure all escaped me at the time so I clicked "buy".

The watch shipped very quickly and arrived at my Pacific NW home 10 days later very well packaged in a plastic case and the initial inspection was quite impressive! The watch was already running and the fit and finish was very nice. The bezel is quite crisp and all in all I'd objectively have to say the watch is every bit as good in the quality department as the Seiko with maybe the only exception being the black rubber strap

Image

I chose which is a bit stiff. About identical quality to the dive straps that come with Citizen's FUGU watches. You know the ones with the ND time/depth limits printed on them. There was a bracelet option but decided this looked best and I couldn't imagine the bracelet being any good.

Image

I don't have a lume shot as of yet but I will testify under the penalty of perjury that the lumed indices and bezel are superb!

You get so may little extras with this watch. A signed crown for example. The dial is beautiful and dynamic in different light. And...unlike some Seiko's everything actually aligns perfectly.

And again I remind you, I got this for $86.95. I have ZERO complaints. If you have any of the same reservations I had about purchasing from Ali Express or the quality of their offerings, I hope this review might help you decide.

Yep, lots of competitive prices when they put zero on marketing budget. It’s just a pain sometimes finding the options on AliExpress view. Fwiw, “AliExpress” is like saying “Amazon”. There are a bunch of manufacturers and brands sold through there. The manufacturer you reviewed “Addiesdive” has a lot of good value offerings….typically with good cases, saphire, excellent lume, dive watches with NH35 movements. 🍻

Very nice! I have ordered watches from AliExpress. I haven't gotten a bad one. I have gotten 2 Steeldives, 2 Benyars and a couple of Paulareis. They all have an NH35 automatic movement, a solid build quality and a great homage look. I'm very satisfied and you should be too.

Great review! I've gotten a bunch of watches from Ali and I've been impressed almost every time when I compare them to the Timex, Seiko, citizen watches that cost way more. It's not for everyone, but it works for me!

·

I Have several Aliex watches, Steeldive, Addiesdive, Pagani, Heimdallr, San Martin & Tandorio each and every one is brilliant and as you point out don't have the same annoying issues of some seiko and other "higher" reputation watches.

·

Steeldive and Addiesdive are pretty solid watches and generally tend to be lume kings, Steeldive are usually marginly better but in some cases its not worth the additional expense over Addiesdive. This varies from model to model so its always worth to research.

As it happens the bracelets aren't the best, but still considerably better than the ones you would get on a <$500 Seiko. If you want to spend a little more it's worth picking up a San Martin, which in my opinion knock the socks off of watches such as Seiko and Tissot etc. I picked the one up below with the intention of reviewing and selling it, but it turned out to be so nice I kept it. Sapphire crystal, Seiko NH35 movement, lovely Jubilee bracelet, 100m water resist, screw down crown and case back. It cost £46 including shipping, that's crazy

I can honestly say I would recommend Addiesdive watches. When it comes to AliExpress my limit is $150 anything over that I find myself using more caution. I would rather get a Seiko, Citzen or Casio.. but, I have come across some great value and Addiesdive is right up there along with Steeldive for value. Good choice enjoy!

I got this watch two days ago and I love it. I need to add that I also own a Seiko that could be considered an “original” to this hommage, the Sumo PADI Special Edition THE GREAT BLUE SPB375J1.

The finishing and stunning looks of the Addiesdive case is as good as Seiko‘s, just the bracelet is significantly worse (but still good looking).

Hard to justify why the Seiko is 10-11 times the price of the Addiesdive.
